On a Mac, I believe it should be something like this (where # is your SU version number - are you sure you have SU 4 BTW?) 😕

    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp #/SketchUp/Plugins

What's so hard about Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/Plugins? There is a huge difference between that and what you're using. Close isn't good enough for this sort of thing.

      Csaba, you're fast! 😉

Good catch on the version, Csaba. It's a long way back but was there even a Plugins folder back then?

I think plugins started with version 4. Some old users should confirm.

I don't see the difference between the one in the link and the one I'm using. The only way I can reach the plugins folder is by going to Applications>Google Sketchup>Sketchup>Contents>Plugins.

i admit it can be confusing in that sketchup on mac can have 3 different plugins folders.. the one you're trying though is not correct..
get out of the application folder for starters..

open a finder window (click on the finder icon in the dock)

at the top left of that window, you'll see 'Macintosh HD' (or whatever you may have named your root drive).. click on that

          double click the folder 'Library'
double click the folder 'Application Support'
double click the folder 'Google Sketchup 8'
          double click the folder 'SketchUp'
and you'll now see the folder 'plugins'

          that's where the rubys go.

[off:2xsk9ca5]yes csaba.. version 4 was the first version with plugins[/off:2xsk9ca5]

The fact that "Macintosh HD" does not exist, nor does "library" or "application support."

I remember seeing Macintosh HD back with my 4 year old macbook, however, this newer model I use does not have that. I did a search for a folder called "plugins" and the one I showed you is the only one I could find

Well, the folder you found is clearly not the correct location because the plugins you've installed there don't work.

Yeah, that's why the plugins aren't working. I'm asking where the correct location would be.

Three of us have told you the correct location. I assure you it's there. Please read the thread on installing plugins.

Do a search for examplescripts.rb. It'll be the the correct location.

No, sorry I use version 8. I put 4 when setting up this account... I wasn't sure at the time.

I read the thread several times, and it isn't helpful. Like I said, newer macs do not have the Macintosh HD location that you've mentioned.

lol.. it exists.. your computer wouldn't work if it didn't exist (well, it could possibly be named something other than MacintoshHD but you would of had to change that… MacintoshHD refers the to hard drive that's inside your computer.. the one with OS X installed on it..

it's possible that you've made it hard to find though.. do this:

click on finder in the dock
click on the word 'Finder' at the top left of the screen
                            click on 'Preferences...'
                            click on 'General'
tick the checkbox for 'Hard Disks' under 'show these items on the desktop:'

an icon that looks like a hard drive named Macintosh HD should now appear on your desktop..
double click it then follow the path as describe in the above posts..

                                    So, Partners,
Since I solved the first problems with your helps(see my problem with Plugins folder), I would like asking the following.
I like SketchUp because it is simple and intuitive, comparing to the CAD I know. But, sketchUp designed mainly for building buildings, landscape etc. And I am building kind of a hang glider. So I need “SketchUp” for Mechanical Engineering job. For example, in Google SketchUp I may find the area and volume of my parts, but I have do additional work for finding weight, Center of Gravity, and others staff. I hope finding some CAD as simple as SketchUp, but which is doing mechanical calculations.
                                    Thanks

There are plugins for finding CofG and with volume you can come up with weight however you should probably accept that SketchUp probably isn't the best tool for the job you have in mind. There are a lot of things that can be done with SketchUp but it isn't designed to do things like structural analysis. I for one would be reluctant to trust the safety of my skin to a hang glider that was designed only with SketchUp.
