I'm thinking of buying 1001bit tools, as it is a download only package is there any reason to buy it from a reseller and not the company direct?

Who is reselling it? Didn't know they had resellers... Unless there is a discount and you are 100% sure they are genuine resellers I see no point.
I have 1001bit - it's a very useful toolkit.

they have a free version for students: if you are one just register there).
