FollowMe frustration
-
As shown in the attached photos, I'm having (another) weird problem with follow me. The results are the same whether the path is welded or not. It shouldn't get much simpler than this, but as usual something that should take a couple of minutes has frustrated me for much, much longer. If it turns out to be something simple that I'm doing wrong, it is completely eluding me.
If I had to sum up SU in one word, it used to be "fun". But for quite a while now it would have to be "twitchy".
I've attached the SKP file.

Your Path is twisted so it can't come back to the same place. And I suspect the profile is skewed as well.

The extruded face needs to be perpendicular to the path at the start, also it can't be rotated around the axis of the path.
It twists.
Have you tried FollowmeAndKeep [FAK] ? That stops the 'twisting' ... -

Not sure I understand this. You can use follow me on complex curves, why should it matter that my path is twisted?

I think it's more what Tig pointed out,the profile isn't perpendicular to the path, which is what I meant when I said it was skewed.

Thanks

Did you try FollowMeandKeep Steve?
I works like a charm

I have used that plugin before and it worked ok, but with this I'm just gonna redo everything. It's simple to do, just started this thread to see what I was doing wrong. And now I know. Thanks again.

Hi Hellnbak, hi folks.
Your path is not coplanar. This is why the face twist when following the path.
Just ideas.
