Fillet and Champher Plug in?
-
Hi guys. Anyone know of a plugin that will FILLET or Chamfer two lines? I often have to hand modify the intersection of two lines with a radius or a 45degree line, like a chamfeer, prior to using the "Tube from line" Plugin. and it is time consuming. It would be nice to be able to do this with a click or two with the mouse. Autocad has a command to do this, but I see no tool in the standard tool set. Thanks

You can try maybe BezierSpline which allows to draw polylines with chamfers and rounding, or to convert an existing polyline. You have control of the radius.

TIG's 2d Tools includes a Fillet Tool which just happens to operate not only on the ground plane(xy) but also vertically (xz/yz). If you were rounding or chamfering a 3d object, of course, you would use Fredo6's Round Corners.

As mitcorb said my 2dTools Fillet works in 3d [several of the tools do - the result is '2-dimensional' as the fillet needs two lines on the same 'plane'].
The Fillet tool fillets two lines with the given radius.
You can also change the segmentation of the arc by suffixing it with a 's' to differentiate it from a radius entry so 6s then 6.6 makes a 6 segment arc-fillet with a radius of 6.6 current units.
The initial default of 0 means it also acts as a Trim/Extend tool on the two picked edges.
You can toggle from Fillet to Chamfer [Alt] - the Chamfer takes one or two values: one value makes a 45 degree chamfer at that specified dimension - e.g. 6.6 units; entering two values with the appropriate 'separator' [:] between them it angles the Chamfer with two dimensions as entered - the first applies to the first edge picked - e.g. 6:12 ... -
OUTSTANDING! How cool is that!! Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a mill guys, and btw, I DO have the Fredo6's Round Corners. I use it all the time, but for what I'm trying to do, the 2d fillet thing is what I needed.
Ok, got a few more questions but I'll post them on their own thread.
Again, THANX!

oops, forgot to post the pic! I can only link a .jpg from my OTHER computer...which is registered under "fitZ". Anyway..here's a few pics.
Now you can see why I can't see the text in the window I am typing this. I guess I better see an Optomitrist.
BTW, every thing in this picture is modeled in Sketchup before I built it. And no, it's not finished. The acoustics are next....like this.
And btw, I'm a long term PRO fabricater. Even with years of Detailing behind me, I couldn't fabricate some of the stuff that ISN"T shown in the pics, without Sketchup. Here is a few .jpgs of some Sketchup models within the studio. My last project was TOTALLY modeled in Sketchup prior to fabricating two computers, my computer enclosure, and console interconnects. I'm even modeling the entire cable/schematic(equipment connections) using the "good ole" LINE TO TUBE plugin VERY COOL! Anyway guys..I APPRECIATE all the help. The older I get...the faster I have to work in Sketchup cause I STILL have a lot of things to do and build. In fact, I have my entire home/property modeled in Sketchup. Just now getting around to Rendering. But that's another story.
Here is a sampleing so you understand where I'm coming from. Oh...did I mention..I LOVE SKETCHUP!!!!
I'll be back!
