    hi
    i have a question about Displacement...
    please see the attached file by the link below:
    http://www.2shared.com/file/PlBGMQqP/Desktop.html
    it contains vismat material and visopt options which I used in my rendering.
    when I render first skp, the result is the first jpg...
    but when I add a simple plane without Displacement (second skp), the Displacement of first plane is gone (as you can see in second jpg)!
    please tell me what is wrong here?

          hi...
          i have a problem with vray texture color.
          I chose a texture in:
          vray --> material editor --> Diffuse --> texture editor (m) --> textBitmap
          how can I change the color of texture for vray rendering, like what we do in sketchup rendering in
          sketchup --> materials --> edit --> color
          does any one know how I can solve this problem?
          thank you

            Change the colour with an image editor, like PhotoShop or Gimp. VfS doesn't support the colour adjustments in SU.

              thanx...
              and one thing more:
              is there any way for changing textures width and height in vray like what we do in:
              sketchup --> materials --> edit --> texture
              (I am using V-Ray 1.48.91 td)

                You use SketchUp to do that - VfS uses the width and height set in SU.

                Update to the latest - 1.49.01. Lots of bugs are fixed.

                  thank you Thomas...
                  but what you said is exactly my problem

                  I used a material from:
                  Sketchup --> materials --> select --> Colors-Named

                  then:
                  Vray --> material editor --> maps --> bump (or displacement) --> texture editor --> TextBitmap

                  and I chose a texture to bump (displace) the color I had chosen.
                  how I can change the width and height for the bump (displacement) texture?

                    Add a dummy texture in SketchUp. Just a tiny solid colour texture. It's required for SU to generate mapping data.

                        You will not be able to convert MAX VRay materials but you can take the diffuse, bump, reflection, etc maps and make your own materials from them. The best resource is the Chaos Group website, but you need to be registered. The other resource out there is http://luzindirecta.org/. I would not use the Material Studio if you are using the latest 1.49.01 version because a few things changed since that studio was created and I think it might be outdated. Can someone else confirm this? Your best bet is to take a few minutes and watch a couple of the videos on Chaos Groups YouTube Channel. You can watch the SU and Rhino videos because the principles are the same.

                          hi everyone
                          i started to learn interior rendering with vfs
                          I need some tips and techniques for how to provide light source and where to place it in closed rooms, and how to show lamps and lights in rooms.
                          can anyone gives me some related links?

                            I'm not sure why you are asking this in a materials posting, but as I always say, the tutorials on the Chaos Group YouTube page are worth their weight in gold. Watch all the ones for VR for SketchUp. You will be in good shape after that.
