Roundcorner plugin - 'permission denied' SU8
-
This is news to me that you have to have admin rights to use plugins in any version of Sketchup. Of course, I have admin rights on the computers that I use at work and home.
Maybe if you post in the Roundcorner plugin thread, someone will pick this up and help you.

I came across this recently will some uni students.
Their department version of Sketchup and its Plugins etc are on the PC in a section that they can't change or write to. Obviously as each PC is accessible to anyone with a login it could allow all sorts of messing on with Program files otherwise. This prevented them from using a new script unless their IT guy added it to the Plugins for them... BUT then if the script needed to write stuff to a subfolder it failed too... My fix was to write a short script that the IT guys added to each Plugins folder that added a new folder to Ruby's '$LOAD_PATH' array - H:\Sketchup_Plugins\ and loads the scripts in there [if any] - 'H:' is always the drive-letter assigned to every student at login on a PC. So now if they add that folder and put their scripts in it they'll load too. Provided that the script uses a FILE path to find its subfolders it will use the subfolder in their 'Sketchup_Plugins' folder too. Unfortunately if a script uses find_support_file("Plugins") it will look in the wrong place
At least this means that the IT guy only had to make one tweak to the installation and they can mess on with their own scripts knowing they'll load and run OK... -
This is how phpBB forum software works. Sucks indeed but we cannot help. Go to the plugin index page and search with your browser search on that single page.

Nice introduction there, Bob.

There is nothing wrong with this board. Problem is the
Rude
users. -
I thinks that's the worst case of PEBKAC I've seen.
Is it seeing or seen or scene?

I was all ready to login and you said I couldn't

Way to go, Mr. Tact.

Well, he is not a member any longer...
I have more than 3 Gb emails about 90% of which is from members seeking help during the last 4 years or so. I really try to be helpful and polite even when sometimes their tone sounds to be a bit frustrated. I just could not get myself into that polite manner this time so I rather banned and deleted the guy.
Maybe I will regret it but hey, Sunday is coming and my priest is quite forgiving when it comes to confession.

No apologies or second thoughts necessary Csaba. Somebody ought to buy him a copy of Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" for Christmas,

Members often forget their login details. I even have a "canned response" for these cases so it would not have been hard NOT to really type anything (polite or rude) but just copy/paste the response with the relevant info. I was just not in the mood this morning.
