How to dimension the length of an arc?
-
is there a way to dimension the length of an arc. I need to do a small metal craft project and need to annotate the length (ie circumference) of various arcs as they meet different faces? Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Jon, if you want to know the length of an arc (or a circumference, or a line etc.) select it then right click-->entity info.
Remember that you have to click on "show details" (the little "+" white sign on upper right corner) if the length is not showed in your entity info panel.

Thank you for that Massimo, that gets me halfway there. I realized after your help that the info was contained in entity info. Sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees. However, i need to show the length of a number of arcs. Is there a plugin like Mr.Bur's dimension by angle or the ability to annotate the length of a curve ( circumference) that will take that info and create a dimension annotation for the length of any curve? Any body?

There we go! That's what i was looking for! Thanks a lot guys, i knew it was in there some where. this forum is the best. okay now to do it in the real world

Amazing work! I like the details.

I wish i could take credit for the design but its a restoration on a hundred and fifty year old commercial building and i need to replicate the work of the old craftsmen which means i have to pretty much relearn the trade and workflow as well as the methodology of their design.

Oh. Still, nice model.

is there a plugin to add the dimension of an arc but not in the layout?

I find out how this work!
Thanx!
But it would be very convenient to have a tool like linear dimension! -
TIG, That's an excellent reference. Thank you for making it.
