      Hello guys,

I've been using V-Ray for the odd render for a few years, but I now want to develop my skills properly, as I'm a bit of a novice. I've started working on a model from which to make exterior renders. It's built up from technical drawings and looks accurate. I have left the walls flat, however, and rely on textures to create the illusion of brick and roof tiles. This is leaves my renders looking flat and unrealistic. I have attached a few images to show you what I mean.

Is this something I can conquer through the V-Ray texture editor, or do I really need to think about modelling these features in full?

      Many thanks!

      Rick

Are you familiar with bump maps, displacement maps and specular maps?

I am familiar with the concept, and have seen them put to good use in other renders. The number of options available within the material editor is a little overwhelming, though.

Go to the download section, then go to vismats.
There are lots of great materials there, with bump and displacement maps.

If you dont know what these are. Its time to read the Vray manual. It should also
be in the download section. Good luck.

Exaggeration makes a dull story better.
