I am familiar with the concept, and have seen them put to good use in other renders. The number of options available within the material editor is a little overwhelming, though.

Texturing advice
Hello guys,
I've been using V-Ray for the odd render for a few years, but I now want to develop my skills properly, as I'm a bit of a novice. I've started working on a model from which to make exterior renders. It's built up from technical drawings and looks accurate. I have left the walls flat, however, and rely on textures to create the illusion of brick and roof tiles. This is leaves my renders looking flat and unrealistic. I have attached a few images to show you what I mean.
Is this something I can conquer through the V-Ray texture editor, or do I really need to think about modelling these features in full?
Many thanks!
Rick
