ok, I am no newbie but the answer to this question may help many novices.

in a new file I drew a face and painted it with a brick texture. then I right clicked on it and selected Edit Texture Image. this caused photoshop (my image editor) to open. I changed the color of the texture to a bright green, saved it and nothing happened back in sketchup. there was no consequence to my actions in PS.

do you guys know what could be the problem?

If you save in a different format or name it won't update. So Material1.jpg sent to PS should be saved as Material1.jpg. You should get a dialogue box about overwriting existing file.

Did you 'save' or 'save as'?

I "saved" and did get the overwriting message but the texture in sketchup remained unchanged. I am sure there is a missing step somewhere.

Well, I'm afraid that is strange. I do know SU places the file in a temp folder. But the fact your getting the overwrite box suggest your doing everything as normal.

Have you tried this on a few textures?

Edson, did you flatten the image before saving, as it won't update in SketchUp then?
