    Hello,

About two years ago when most of the Sketchup community had little to no understaning of what are dynamic components and what can they do, I made a short video of some examples, featuring the different types of use for them. The video served well for whenever I tried to quickly explain to someone what are DC's, and I hope it helped others too. But a lot of time has past and a lot of new good DC's heve been made since then, so I'd like to make a new video that would include the most awsome, interesting and creative DC's. This time I'll try to make the video more educating, yet keeping it entertining.
So I ask of you, fellow Sketchucation members, please help me to find the best ones out there, that deserve the spotlight and could well represent what Sketchup is capable of to the non-believers ๐Ÿ˜„

If youv'e found a good dynamic component in the 3d warehouse or you would like to share your own, please post a 3d warehouse link or attach it in the forum post. I'll credit all the models that will be featured in the video. Also if you have any good ideas that would help to make this kind of video better, I'd aprechiate your help.

This is a link to the first video

Good idea Speaker. I'll make this post 'sticky' for a while in order to give folks a chance to read.
Your idea might make a good article on a future edition of CatchUp also.

Thanks Mike, and a nice find. This was what I was looking for. I guess a good point is to show the parametric design possibilities. At least one good model should be enough for this. I could quickly show the parameter window and some variations of the model thought some basic animation. I think the way they show it in that video is too dull and an instant preview of the changes could make it easier to grasp the concept of parametric design for the average user.

              Speaker,
You'll have to decide if the following are any good or not as DC examples for your purposes, but some DC's I've created can be found in the Dynamic Components Area:

              DC Door Builder
              http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=21350

              DC StairCase Builder:
              http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=18545

              DC SpiralStairCase Builder:
              http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=29484

              ...........
I suggest you do a search in the Dynamic Components Area of the Forum.
There a quite a few really good examples posted by different people in that area.
              ...........
I'd also suggest that you may like to move this thread to the Dynamic Components Area.
              (Contact Moderators to do this).
              ...........
              Hope this Helps

              Regards
              Howard L'

Thanks Howard. I decided to make this topic here because I think the sub forum is not getting that much attention and is mostly used by a small group of people that visit it casually. But maybe I'm wrong... Only way to know is if the mods can share some board statistics ๐Ÿ˜‰

                  Hi Speaker

I was introduced to DC from videos like yours by which I learned the principle
and there is no doubt that eventually it caught me.
I'm planning for a long time to promote the subject,
but unfortunately I have not yet found the time to it. In the meantime I can offer my help
If you are interested. we have enough material for a full-length movie.

                  Shay , Sketchkey

The initial idea was to make a 3- 4 minute long video that should look like an advertisement to try and really improve my video editing skills and promote Sketchups possibilities. I hadn't thought of making a whole movie yet, nor do I have the proper knowlage in DC's to make one. Thank you for the heads-up Shay. Once I'll progress more in this project I'll contact you.

This is one of the first solid DC's I made. I've got a link back to a blog post on how it works, along with a video as well. It was funny how many people at Basecamp I ran into that knew me specifically because of this component!

Probably not the most impressive on earth, but it may be exciting, because..

                            where is the hidden cake?

It was an entry for some competition,
thanks to the people from sketchucation helping me with some difficulties.

The one or other may learn from looking into the dynamic components properties.

                            Good luck searching..!

There's a 'Classy Muffin' in the bottom of the cupboard off the Entrance area [just above those two big round 'things'?] - it's a bit squashed and looks more like an apple-pie than a cake - why not use the Outliner to find it quickly...

more precise its a lemon-pie.. and yes, no chance to deceive you TIG, its a muffin from the warehouse squeezed...

you should have searched with the dynamic hand tool (opening stuff etc)- and not with outliner.. you technician ๐Ÿ˜„

                                    Salve io non parlo inglese.
ho capito il messaggio con google traduttore.
Ho fatto alcuni componenti dinamici, alcuni li ho pubblicati su youtube,
                                    Questi sono i link.

Per voi esperti di SU, quello che ho fatto, sembrerร  semplice.
Io sono fiero di quanto ho realizzato, ma quanto tempo per capire i DC.

                                    Ciao.

I came across this thread while looking for solutions to some of my issue. i.e 'formulas'

They're not perfect but I'm pretty proud of them, especially the drawer cabinet, with all the drawer boxes. Go ahead. Stretch out the floor cabinets to the construction lines along the walls. The wall cabinets stretch on the Z axis as well as the X axis.

As I said, a work in progress.
