[Plugin] CleanUp
-
thomthom: I'm so sorry.
I've updated Sketchup now.
Now it worked.
I'm a fool. Thanks for your patience. -
I don't think TT would be angry with you (more likely he's glad it works now).
But did it (that latest Cleanup version) also work with the previous SU 8 version? -
No - I'm not angry. But that update is really worth it. Some important fixes in SketchUp.
And 3.1.3 should work for pre M1 now. -
I tested all the new versions of cleanup with sketchup 8 outdated and did not work. Only when I upgraded to the latest version of sketchup was the plugin cleanup worked well.
Is there something in the working of the plugin which I think could be rethought. That is what concerns processing of edges. Is there a difference between edges that form a face and are coplanar with other faces ("Erase Coplanar Edges") AND edges who are in face without being divided into other faces ("Erase Lonely Edges"). If could be distinguished in this way I can assign keyboard shortcuts for this two situations.

Errors?

You can assign shortcuts for each function - Since 3.1 you have individual menus:
Maybe I just don't understand the question...

A picture is more worth than a thousand words.
-
You want to erase stray edges and merge coplanar faces?
Just set the settings in the dialog window. Then after ward you can just use the "Clean with Last Settings" if you quickly want to repeat that cleaning operation. -
That's and odd error message. It refers to
tt_guide_tools.rb

I've removed both the plugin and the TT_lib2 folder and re-installed both
Did you download the new version of TT_Lib2 before reinstalling TT_Lib2?
-
Yes, I re-downloaded the latest revision of TT_Lib2 (2.5.3) and Cleanup (3.1.3). Should I try to remove and re-install the TT_Guide tools as well?
-
You could try... I'm not really sure why you get this error message.
What OS do you use? Windows?
Administrator or User account? UAC on/off? -
Using Windows Vista Home Premium with administrator access yes. I think it might be a conflict with another plugin perhaps. I'll check it out and let you know what I find out.

I loved the first iteration of this plugin. I've tried to install the new version and receive this error on startup:
Error Loading File tt_cleanup.rb
undefined methodis_windows?' for TT::System:Module Error Loading File tt_guide_tools.rb undefined method
is_windows?' for TT::System:ModuleI've removed both the plugin and the TT_lib2 folder and re-installed both but no change. Any ideas? I'm really looking forward to getting this plugin to work, you do great work, keep it up.
Thanks in advance,

Found out what the problem is...or rather..solution. I guessing the problem has to do with administrative rights somehow. Because if I set the Sketchup 8 Desktop shortcut to 'Run with administrative rights' then there is no error. Not sure what in the system.rb requires administration rights other than what I have but it works for now I guess.

There shouldn't be anything. But - Vista and Win7 got something called compatibility mode where Windows place folders in a hidden location elsewhere on the system - though this is not visible to the user. It could be that this caused an older version to be loaded.
When you're in the Plugins folder, do you see a Compatibility Files button in Explorer? -
Actually I do. So what exactly does this other folder do? Does it store older versions of the files that are in it? I've never noticed it before. But now that I see it I noticed there are other plugins that I couldn't find before.
-
Yup, that did the trick. I just deleted the TT_Lib2 folder from the 'Compatibility' folder and everything starts up as it should. Thanks for the tip, and the wonderful plugins.

I'm not very familiar with it - but I've heard some reports on it.
-
It tries to stop you updating files/folders in 'Program Files' so the versions in 'Compatibility Files' version is likely to be newer and the older version left unchanged. It depends how you copy/move over the files... Give yourself wide-ranging access-rights to Sketchup folder and subfolders/files - the Compatibility Files won't bug-you
-
I think this is good option to insert in this plugin:
-
Do not worry. I've done that.
Your version 3 of the cleanup is not working properly, when I select to delete duplicate faces.

I modified your previous version of the plugin cleanup and working properly. It's a pity that this did not erase non solid surfaces within groups. But this is not so bad.
