Hey guys has anyone had this problem and have a workaround?

When I import jpeg's (or any image file) via File> import I get an error message reading image file invalid. I can normally open a new SU file, import it and explode to get it into the file im working with but this is a pain.

This doesn't always happen and appears to occur on the second or third image i bring in which makes me think its down to some sort of memory limitation but i've got the same error with different file sizes. I've had this occur on both SU 7.1 & 8

      Any thoughts?

While I don't recall this happening with SU, other applications opening images have failed when a particular compression algorithm for that image is not implemented in that app. Does it consistently fail to import with the same image? If so try saving the image with a different compression algorithm.

You can also drag and drop an image file's icon into your SKP window and it'll import IF it's suitable...

I have run into this as well.
Usually it is files that I have scanned as jpegs and then
imported into su. More often than not they are large format plan scans.

I too have had the first one I import work, and then the next one not work.
Same format, same scanner, same everything.

My work around has been to open the jpeg in a separate photo editor and do a "save as" and choose "jpeg"
and rename it and then re-import it.
That works most of the time.

If it still does not work I will then start a new su file and import the images again after
re-saving and re-naming all the jpegs files I want to import.

              Good luck

              p

Also make sure it is saved as an RGB channel image. SU on Windows have had problems with other kind of images.

                Gai...
