Let's have a Hardware speed test for SU

sweet...
and the GPU is an NVidia Quadro FX 770M... is that any good?
oh and with shadows off, the time was 1.141. Average frame=0.016 sec., 63.1 fr/s

Ok. Not sure how to do screen shots but I will just give you the info.
Without shadows.
72 frames displayed in 3.420 seconds
average frame = 0.047 seconds
21.1 frames/secondWith shadows.
72 frames displayed in 1.373 seconds
average frame = 0.019 seconds

Here's the results using my new laptop

-
Toshiba A300 Satellite, 2 years old dual core intel, 3 gig ram, 32 bit windows 7, ATI mobility card
-
Dell M6400 with NVIDIA Quadro FX2700.
Stats went up after I went into the NVIDIA control panel and changed the 3d settings to 'Let Application Control' or somesuch.

Anyone got a new Mac Pro to test?
-
New Imac 27 inch as spec'ed here http://store.apple.com/nz/configure/MB953X/A?mco=MTM3NjczMzI with 8Gb Ram & i7 processor. Running SU 7.1 on Snow Leopard.
Shadows on - (47-53*) frames per second
Shadows off - 22 frames per second**compared to old G5 PPC Dual 2.3Ghz, with 2.5Gb RAM NVidia GeForce 6600 GPU
Shadows on - 30 frames per second
Shadows off - 14.6 frames per secondand 1st gen Macbook Pro - (ATI Radeon X1600 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, 2Gb Ram Leopard, SU 7.1)
Shadows on - 27.3 frames per second
Shadows off - 9.2 frames per secondPretty impressive improvement I guess, but can't help wondering what the Mac Pro might be capable of... No software/OpenGL issues yet to report but will post back if I find any....
*Is SU caching something here? Upon repeated testing I'm getting different results (shadows on = same as shadows off & frame rate increases to 53), even after closing SU and reopening Test file... Am I missing something here?
**The results on the Imac back up Jopperman's results with similarly spec'ed Graphics card (512Mb difference on GPU) and RAM but on a different operating system and other hardware specifically CPU...

For reference I just tested my Asus Eeepc running XP and SU7.1.
The test shows it is pretty slow but it all works if you want something portable..
I've opened two very high poly models, and they certainly orbit and zoom quite happily, I imagine any work on them would take forever though.
-
It appears I don't know how to get both images to upload in the same post ... so here's the other one.
-
I hate to say it.. but I will.
I seem to be "smoking" all you fellers.
Here's my score.BTW - I am running Vista Ultimate with 4 Gigs Ram and 2x (PCIE SLI) Nvidea 8800GT's
"EDIT" .. I guess I haven't "smoked" everyone. I didn't notice there are 6 pages to this Thread ..... DOH !
-
And this is with Shadows ON
PS> Sorry I don't know how to post multiple images in the same Reply Post. !!!

You just add another one...
BTW Chris; you must have given some wrong email address the other day as it was returned to me...

Hey,
Anyone try this test with SU8 yet?
I"m interested to see speed compared to 7.1
Thanks,
Glenn -

Glenntried. does not work, get an argument error.
looks like the file / code will need to tweak. -
Ran it successfully on SU7.1 and SU8. Medion akoya MD97310 (from Aldi). 15.4 fps on SU7.1. 27.6 fps on SU8.

How come my old dusty machine is performing rather well? / what am I doing "wrong"?

AMD Athlon 64/3000+
Clockspeed 2.00GHz 1.5GB
NVIDIA GeForce FX5700With SU8 pro (didn't test SU7) and testing the original file:
- nothing changed (hidden geometry and shadows off) => around ~62.7 frames/second
(shadows on didn't seem to matter that much, same results => ~62.5 frames/second)
2)edges+profiles on, hidden geometry (and shadows) displayed => ~35.8 frames/second
~ indicates that I did run the code line multiple times.
After changes to settings like 'hidden geometry' only the first run drops down frame rate.
After that a constant higher rate as stated above. - nothing changed (hidden geometry and shadows off) => around ~62.7 frames/second

So much for all the hype about new machines. Are you running on a AGP_ bus also? Try toggling the transparency select on the face styles and see if it makes much difference. It did for me
fussion
It appears you are running too slow for these test conditions. Do you have problems with model display?? Suggest you run the GLview 322.exe and see what type of OpenGL you really have. Also toggle the transparency on the face styles and see if that makes any difference for you. My testing showed the extents of the model play a roll. Make sure to hit zoom extents before running test
