[Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24
-
There is probably a better way to do the above but I do not know what it is. What I did was go back and re-build each and every corner 1 x 1. Sure makes me hope I get the rounds right next time and have a back up copy just in case.
-
you could always make a copy of your original stuff and put it on a hidden layer before you do major edits like round corner.
-
Or even better; use Didier's Ghost Component plugin to keep the original (unrounded) as ghost and round the "real" to anything. Then you can always get back to the original.
-
Thank you both for excellant ideas. If not for you guys I would have never guessed or know. Rebuilding 28 interior and exterior corners is not the most fun I have ever had. But, I am now ready for next time.

Sorry to bother you for this seemingly simple specific but where can I find "Didier's Ghost Component plugin"? I have searched here, Smustard, Ruby Library Depot and Googled but I must not be typing the best words/word combinations.
Thanks

Thanks for sharing,It's so cool!!!

I know what to do for this type of configuration, but this is not at all a trivial change. So it is on my (big) list of things to do.
In the mean time, I would follow the 'manual' way, as you describe.Fredo

thank you

Hi,
first of all, great plugin
but i was wondering wheter it would be possible to precise the corner that needs to be rounded by giving in the radius (similar to the 'fillet' tool in autocad?)kind regards,
thomas

[b]RoundCorner performs the rounding of the edges and corners of 3D shapes along a 2D profile, in 3 modes: Round corners, Sharp corners and Bevel.
............Hi Fredo6 !
This ruby made a strong impression on me ! It's very very very useful !
I have a small idea, could you resolve it ?
Many thanks !
This is a good idea. Actually, I should make the lateral edges the same property as the bordering edges. Will do it in a next upgrade.

Do you have any illustration of this function or link of the Autocad fillet so that I see if this can be added?

Hi Fredo,
I attached two drawings; one 2D in autocad using the fillet tool (which is the same as drawing a circle so that it is tangent on both sides and the other is a test in sketchup of the 2D using the roundcorner tool.
when the corner that needs to be rounded is a 90° corner there is no difference but when the corner is not at 90° autocad (with circle tangent to both sides) does not match with the roundcorner tool.
I only asked this because i wondered whether next to the original way you designed the tool it would be possible to have an option to give in the Radius instead of distance as it is now. I use a lot of autocad drawins as an underlay for my sketchup models and saw that it did not match but maybe i overlooked something or am completely wrong here.
i hope this illustrates what i mean?
kind regards,
thomas

I must be missing a step. I have LibFredo6 3.4 downloaded and extracted, but I do not see the Fredo menu item under Sketchup/Windows. Similarly downloaded and extracted Roundcorner v2.1c. Still nothing in Sketchup.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Fredo,
First of all Thanks! for this plugin. Works very nicely on the mobile CAD workstation at Work (2.9 Ghz Core2Duo).
However after installing it on my iMac (2.4 Ghz Core2Duo 4GB of RAM), when using it, it reacts extremely slow (Sketchup 7.1) to the point of being unusable. It does create the geometry but, again, when clicking on any of the plugin's UI elements it takes several seconds to result in a response.
Any ideas what the reasons may be for it ?

Is it specific to a model, or do you get the same slow behavior even with an empty model (say just a cube)?
When you mouse over the buttons (not clicking), do you see the buttons react (i.e. highlight) ?
