Nice work, but I agree about the color, although the mix of black and white and color seems to work with the Dennis method. the color always looks to confined when applied where it has shapes for boundaries.
Still all in all a damn fine presentation. It's a pleasure to see your work. -
I actually don't mind the color.
The fact that you did not over think the
color application gives it a half assed
feeling in a good way. What is missing as far as I can see is
Screaming kids, crying kids, hair pulling, fighting,
peeing, you know....normal kids.Nice work by the way.

I think these are great scenes to play with a really strong bold colour story as if a child is coloring parts, I'd do a few materials as if they thought about sarting out and working in but then got distracted and focused to colouring in small chairs and larger toys - the things in scale for them! And maybe a lighter line with no end finishes.
-
I love the mix of colour and grey scale. For me it works very well and is a style that I find many people prefer to photo-realism.
-
i like them, but you need more consistency in what you color and what you don't. like in the last image, only 1 chair is red, the rest aren't.
try adding color to the things you wanna draw attention to
overall i love the aesthetic
edit
also you wall brick textures dont line through.
-
I think it works well.
The hardest thing is getting the balance correct and choosing what should be colour.
-
With me, my attention is always distracted by the brick texture. I love the playfulness of the color, so the question is how to apply it to focus your viewer. Still though I love the work.
-
It looks like a very nice and playful daycare center. I think the limited use of color helps convey that, too.
-
great suggestions and ideas... appreciate it. there should be more of these, so hopefully i can refine it a bit..
obviously, doing something a la the dennis method might be better... but these are low budget jobs with a bunch of images, so i need to have straight sketchup output.
-
I rather like the style.
-
I do too. The mix of grayscale and color works for me. The images may be a tad rough around the edges, so to speak, but all in all I find them rather effective.

For me it is the map scale to the beams that size them up! Seems off!
-
yeah, you're right richard...looking at it again..its just so hard to find a good, big wood texture
i'll be back soon with the next one.

Making them out of others in PS is often as quick as searching mate!
