    S-Lofts_a.jpg

I have been waiting for this for a few years now. Any chance we can get this anytime soon ❓
I believe RickW was working on it at some point in time but have not heard or seen anything in a very long time. Obviously first price is for this to be real time, ie if you move one of the profiles the lofted shape should follow

    Thanks

The skin is a pale shadow of the real old good loft though..

Yes i know that there are a couple of scripts that do similar stuff but
we do need proper loft functionality. It is a fundamental 3D modeling concept
that is present in all the big packages, 3dmax, C4d, Maya, FormZ etc. Sketchup needs it a LOFT tool ❗
It would enhance Sketchup modeling capabilities greatly. πŸ˜„

but as far as I know lofts are only possible with nurbs. that means that if you want a loft that still can be manipulated via it's curves, you need the calculation process for a nurbs form and its transformation into a polygon shape in real time... 😲

I think for a fluent loft tool we needed something like SketchUp Nurbs, which would be great, but I am afraid is rather unlikely...

well, EEbyRails restricts you to 4 curves (two profile curves, and two path curves) whereas with a loft tool you are allowed to use as many curves as you like (order in which curves are selected will determine the order they are used).
maybe you could create a loft tool based on your EEbyRails tool...
I know there is a basic loft tool out there somewhere (I think Chris Fullmer). but last thing I know its still in early beta.
you got quite a stable tool which produces beautifully smooth forms. so maybe you could derive a mighty loft tool from it... πŸ˜‰

I am working on such multi-profile loft tool. Still a lot of work, but you can get an idea at http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=1306&start=210#p216592
