Leopard 10.5.4 damages SU?!
-
Hey guys.
I upgraded a couple of days ago, when the 10.5.4 update first became available.
SU has now started acting very strangely.
Some files take 10 to 15 minutes (!!) to open.
Some files claim to have problems that need fixing, even though they were fine before the update. It can take another 5 to 10 minutes for SU to then fix the model.
Saving some files is now taking 10 to 15 minutes, too!!
These are 10-30 meg files, no textures.
This is really awful; I am thinking of reinstalling, much as I don't want to.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Thanks.

I was about to install this update, but now, I´ll wait for the official word from google.
Sorry about your problems... -
chuck,
i am still on tiger exactly because of reports like this. a few days ago i read apple is planning to release snow leopard in january, a major fix to leopard's problems. so i will probably skip leopard all together.

I'm still on 10.5.3 so won't upgrade yet. I hope you get
it sorted AND thanks for the warningMike

I'm on 10.5.4 with very little problems. I do seem to get crashes when I close and load files that are on my PC partition. I can load files off of the PC partition and it seems intermittent. I am "taxing" the machine because I often have Motion3 open at the same time - though it runs pretty damn fast and I hardly notice and speed difference. Files do load really fast. It's working well enough for me to consider my next desktop upgrade should be a Mac Pro.

I am still having this weirdness, FWIW.
I have not yet tried a reinstall and I haven't contacted google yet because that is what they will tell me to do.
That, and a bug I reported over 1 1/2 years ago is still listed on their site as the #1 known MAC bug. Nice quick solution to that one, eh?
As an aside, is anyone experiencing a very bad slowdown of orbit when using the middle mouse button? Especially when you already have geometry selected? This one is infuriating, too.

HELP!!! How do I get Sketchup-Pro6 back after Erase/Install?????
Although I'm not experiencing problems on my desktop iMac7,1-Intel Core 2 Duo, machine. my laptop canceled the program altogether.
On my desktop, running 10.5.4, SU-Pro6 has been working fine on fairly complex models and much faster and efficiently in its use of resources, compared with my PowerBook G4 that was running 10.4.11.
HOWEVER, I just upgraded the laptop to 10.5.4, so it may be I'll discover a negative response once I get SU running again.
PROBLEM IS, I need to get Sketchup back on my laptop after finding out the preliminary backup to external hard drive didn't include any existing applications. I had backup for everything else, but I'm missing Sketchup-Pro6 because it was a downloaded purchase and no disc is available.
Does anybody know how I get it re-mounted?
Thanks in advance,
Rafael (here or directly to roqin@mac.com)

Reply to myself:
Found original email with authorization key and serial number. Procedure was a replay of the original mounting process.
First, went to http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6/download.html to download the app
Then referred to the email "Your Network copy of Google SketchUp Pro 6! (Mac OSX)" from Laura Allen... copied and pasted key and serial numbers into the license authorization window that popped up during installation.
Chose default, opened a file, SU running ok with a moderately complex model. It never ran super fast on my laptop anyway. Sometimes, and especially for presentations, it's the best way.

Chuck, I´ve noticed the orbit slowdown you mention. I don´t remember having that issue on my previous windows machine.
I´ve noticed though, that if you click with your middle button over an empty area in the model you get the slowdown, but it will work as expected if you try and orbit clicking over any geometry in the model. Similar behavior to zooming over an empty area...
Is this what you are experimenting?
