That makes sense though. One teacher I had was an English major, but he often would bring interesting things to me to read during my lunch hour, or have some story to tell me about some thing or another. One time he explained to me alot of stuff about how the human brain reacts in isolated situations. The example that he used was the Tom Hanks movie, Cast Away. If left alone long enough, without sufficient stimuli, the human brain will attempt to create its own things to interact with. A form of torture is sensory deprivation for a reason; after a while the victim will begin to see, hear, or feel things that arent there. Although I do have to admit that I don't want to be on that plane when the pilot suddenly thinks he is no longer in control of the plane.

A perfect example of the best ideas being the simplest- what a cool product! I don't know how you would go about manufacturing it, but imagine if you could jumble around the optic fibres so they weren't running laterally or parallel- you would get a jumbled up "shadow" of whatever (or whoever) was on the other side, with little or no recognisable features. Plato's slaves would have their work cut out interpreting those shadows!

OOps I had the day and month switched in my profile. My Bday is really feb 12th. But unfortuanately the year was correct I'm getting older, At least I can say I'm in my early forties...and 50 is still more than 5 years away. I will however always be a little kid at heart, which is one reason I think I like Sketchup so much it lets the inner child in me have fun.

Thank you for the recipe Eric, I have never cooked a Turkey before, (thanksgiving is not a Kiwi custom,) but now I can give it a shot. It sounds an ideal way to cook a good feed and clean the oven at the same time. Much more humane than cooking pregnant Turkeys I'm sure. I may try it for my Xmas dinner. Cheers, Bill

Everybody in the UK has heard of this place in Wales, but others might find this interesting. When I was about 10yrs old I tried to remember and learn how to say this place name, then I got interested in girls and tried to be less of a nerd. http://www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.com/ Also I found this site about long words. I am actually still a nerd. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1534419

Cool. The eye blinking kind of freaked me out at first. Other than being fun and cool, what kind of applications could you use it for?

Thanks so much Bob. But it would appear that the drive is black and uncompressed so thtat doesn't seem to be the reason. Anssi, I think you are on to something. I created another user and signed on with that and when I selected a bunch of files and right clicked there was a marked difference in the hesitation time for the context menu to show up. Now I don't really want to use the new user ID because I would have to set up all the program icons all over the palce all over again. But now the question is, what is it in my user profile that is causing the slow down?

ross, your post shows why this is a special place, a place where people care enough for the others (mostly strangers) as to go through the effort of trying to make everyone feel confortable, lurker or not. regards.

Thanks for the reply, Jackson. I am using Vue 6 Esprit - I cannot find anywhere where it defines units - I think that is a limitation of esprit. I've decided to upgrade to the Infinite version (early Christmas present). Besides some extras, it has the option to use imperial units, and to import SU files directly. The problem I had was with some trees purchased through cornucopia3d. They were no where near being close to what they should have been. My logical brain just doesn't understand creating something so far out of scale (and they were SolidGrowth trees, so they had to have used the same program to create them).

Maybe it would help if the link to sketchucation went right to the new forums and then had a link to the old forums rather than the other way around. Does that make sense?
