Yes, that's a serious risk for inventors. There've been so many before you. The safest way to get a patent is: -put your name on the mailing list of all small silicon chip developing companies -order all their newest chipset samples and development kits -order the best PCB design and simulation software plus the latest prototyping machines -hire the best firmware writers you can get -design housing and packaging for your newly developed devices at home, late at night on the coffee table using Sketchup of course -launch your products worldwide using the services of the best advertising agencies, the best marketing bureaus and the best distributing networks price tag at least 10x the production cost. But take care to flood the market, deluge, tsunami, grab the moment. -last but not least, have a team of the best lawyers to sue anyone who hits the market with a similar product. poster-Maggy

Paul James is good if a little corny. There was a really good show a while back called the City Gardener and it starred a British LD named Matt James. He did some great stuff, but when the network dragged him to America and shot a season here the show took a dive. Getting back to one of the original thoughts in this thread, about interior designers and sexuality- I spent two years studying interior design. If you're single, male and straight, I HIGHLY recommend majoring in interior design. Just saying, is all. Dave

Hello Mike and all, Thank you for refering to my site and, of course, your positive words about my models. I hope there are some usefull models for all of you allthough they where not really ment to be imported into other models. The file size and nr of edges is to high in a couple of models to do that. Most of the models where not made with the idea of being importable. All of these models where ment to learn how to use the Sketchup program for me. What you see on my site is actually the process of learning the program. That's why not all models have the same quality and why there are so many different subjects for the models. Of course tips and comments are welcome if they can help improve my work. J-m@n Joost

john, I was raised to think that displaying good manners everywhere is a way to show respect for other people. it does not seem to be that popular anymore as we are all the time confronted with behaviour like you described, plus people speaking loudly on their cell phones (as if you had to take part in their private life), and stuff like that. not old fashioned, perhaps not in synch with the rough times we are going through. best wishes. edson

Stu, Thanks, I'll give it a look. I originally was looking for a free alternative to drop the majority of the bytes I wanted to share here. Every other online freebee I had available wasn't so free considering the ad load (and probable cookies) attacking the viewers. But now looks like Kelly has us covered...yea Kelly! Best, Tom. (Like the new avatar, BTW...the other one always triggered the "Jaws" movie theme in my head :`)

I'm a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker. I have tried several methods to quit. Cold Turkey, Cutting Down, Nicotine Patch, Nicotine Lozenge, Welbutrin, Bantrol, and probable others I can't think of right now. The patch was the closest I've come to success and I'll likely start using it again. The only problem is, it gave me very weird dreams. The kind where you wake up really freaked out. I had to stop using them because the dreams were making me exhausted during the day. I could hardly stay awake to work. Next time, I think I'll take it off a couple of hours before bed. Maybe that way I can sleep and I'll just have to use willpower not to light up in the morning. nomi

@fbartels said: These left me feeling quite... how shall I put it... small, silly and put down. The ironic thing is I was in effect an innocent bystander. No one from AIA ever contacted me to ask if they could use the picture, and they certainly didn't mention that when publishing the criticisms. Fred Mr Bartels, Please don't let those comments bother you. We architects need to think out of the box, not to be always bogged down by build-ability, the finer details. Fantasy is one good starting point; the concepts, ideas will eventually crystallise, be refined down the road. Of course its bad that they didn't inform you about using your images. Anyway glad to see your name and work there. Guite

Right on Paul! That's the one. No wonder I couldn't find it using my sharpening search terms "probably not gallery material" Thanks Paul, and thanks Sawduster, thats a very handy jig. There's a sharpening discussion going on at Breaktime, and I'd like to link to that thread.

Yeah, it's an "old topic" transferred from the old board. In his announcement Coen mentioned that the original post dates wouldn't (cannot) be transferred.

Isn't it a coincidence that we have two concurrent car topics which have something else in common? TATA Motors. The same company which have just launched "the world's cheapest car" is also financing the R&D of the MDI Air Car (see 'the world's cleanest car' topic). Guite
