RE: *The Turbine Hall*
cheers guys, mapping is done in sketchup with a bit of care & patience
textures are a mixture of my own photo's and stuff from cgtextures.com. Those in the image are just diffuse textures, i've yet to add reflections and bump but im working on it

RE: Reviews of SU 8?
I still use 7.1 for everything but I do have 8 installed soley for the improved google earth connectivity.
I use this very occasionally for bringing in terrains and for texturing surrounding buildings using the street view textures for aerial shots.
The reason im sticking with 7.1 is lazyness really, its not worth the effort of transfering my rubys and render engines across which i guess doesn't say much for v8.
On the whole its a -
RE: Hover Competition Image
great image, i was following this over at the hover forum, it turned out great. Just one real crit from me and thats your POV, i find if the image is taken from a human perspective it really helps with realism, floating some meters off the ground always makes things more 'CG'-ish.
I'm gutted i never got to finish my image, i shall no doubt post it here when i get chance to complete it. I guess we were some of the few using sketchup, is this vray? -
RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 1: Fantasy

*The Turbine Hall*
Hey guys heres my WIP for my latested image, thought i'd show a bit of my process. Essentially its a steam-punk type turbine assembly platform within an old ruined church. The last image is an inital rough out of the mood i'm looking for the piece, still to add textures to the turbine, a welding guy (in Sang's location), some puddles and moss etc and bump maps to the current textures. Everything bar the turbine is modelled in SU and rendered with Vray for SU.
Cheers

RE: Bamboo Pad
I have a bamboo which is a great budget pad, its pretty useless with SU tho. However its essential for photoshop, I cant use PS anymore without it

Draping Geometry
Hi guys,
I've currently got a task of placing a new road onto a steep topographic mesh. What would you suggest is the easiest way of achieving this? Any plugin suggestions and workflow?
Cheers

Those are royal palms which have a green almost plastic like stalk at the top of the trunk
There you go, learn something new everyday. We don't get many of those in Birmingham

Image File Invalid: jpeg import
Hey guys has anyone had this problem and have a workaround?
When I import jpeg's (or any image file) via File> import I get an error message reading image file invalid. I can normally open a new SU file, import it and explode to get it into the file im working with but this is a pain.
This doesn't always happen and appears to occur on the second or third image i bring in which makes me think its down to some sort of memory limitation but i've got the same error with different file sizes. I've had this occur on both SU 7.1 & 8
Any thoughts?
