hi MrWip, thank you for sharing your fabolous model! how did you generate all the individual pieces of glass from the original image? did you trace each piece in Sketchup? or is there an easier way to do that? thanks again!!!

RE: Buildings
that is a great website!!! thank you both, Roberto and Pichuneke, for the inspiring architectural models and websites!! i LOVE spanish architecture and one of the first things on my wishlist is visiting Granada / Alhambra.
please don't apologized for either of your English, they aren't bad at all. if you feel limited by the poetics and depth of your thoughts that need to be shared, here's a tool- http://translate.google.com you can copy and paste any text or web URL. i've used it quite a bit ever since i joined this forum and there are so many talented people speaking other languages !!
RE: Buildings
thank you so much Roberto for such beautiful models and all the great information!! please keep posting more!!
Question- how come the more complicated model (palace posted on June 10th) has a lot less faces and edges and components than, let say, a lot of the other models and this arc you just posted? maybe i'm not seeing the complexity in the others... -
RE: Render this: Stained glass
MrWip,
i really like your new group of renders! especially the one where you increased the thickness of the glass! how can glass thickness be done in artlantis? or did you do that in SU? thanks! -
RE: Render this: Stained glass
solo, that's beautiful!! how did you get the shafts of colored light? have you tried to do this in Podium also
-
RE: A question to Artlantis users
hi edson, the face me components in SU will render in Atl but won't face camera. if he's looking for 2D people, then use Billboards for Atl, download or create from 2D images. 3d people will model just fine, the better the model the better the render, colors can be changed. hope this helps.

RE: Render this: Stained glass
hi solo, i can't believe you just posted this! for the last 2 weeks i've been thinking about posting a question for YOU on this topic! i' working on a design that two of the spaces is totally about the stained glass window. right now i'm just about to finish the house & site, interiors come next. i will post mine in 3 weeks (if it looks right!)
hi MrWip, that looks great!! please post more!
i have a question for you- is the glass panel made of several faces in sketchup or is it one face with transparent image? the reason i'm asking is that my tests showed that when it's different faces for different colors, podium can work too, but if it'a transparent texture or image the shadows don't have colors in podium and artlantis is able to produce colored light. but if the design is intricate, and not a cad file, it will be a lot of work to trace it on a face... thanks again!!

RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Arch in a curved wall.
thank you so much Gaieus, i got it!!!! and some of your other great models in the warehouse
i guess my main question is very similiar to Karl's - how to create push/pull kind of details and cuts on curved surfaces, plugins? or intersect? -
RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Arch in a curved wall.
hi Gaieus, when you have time would you post a tutorial or quick steps list to show us how you did this one? it's beautiful!!

RE: Thanks to all Ruby developers, and more...
MrWip,
Thank you so much for answering my question and for the link to your tutorial. I must say your tutorial is much MUCH better than the one from the Artlantis team on the same topic! I find their web tutorial really hard to understand, not sure whether it's the language or technical words
I'm using Podium right now for quick tests but I really like the realtime feature in Artlantis, plus I 'm really tempted to get some more levels of design ideas visualized, such as new materials, luminosity, etc, so I finally decided to jump into Artlantis, although I wish it's as easy to learn as Sketchup! Your tutorial provided me with just what I need right now. Thanks a million! ! ! !!!!
By the way, I just had an idea while browsing through your much admired website. I used http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt to translate from french to english, and I thought maybe this feature will save you time when you decide to have an english version of you website. Their translation need editing but will be less work than typing everything yourself.
Cheers! -
RE: Some Sketchup models
Gai and Charly,
Please keep inspiring us with your works!!! Truly beautiful!!!
I'm a new member. What a treat to look at and read about your creations -
RE: Thanks to all Ruby developers, and more...
Mr wip, your web site is great! Thank you for the inspiration!
Question: Could any one compare V-Ray and Artlantis a bit?? Do you have a preference when choosing a rendering software for Sketchup? Thanks!
