I thinks its highly unlikely. There is already lots of carpel tunnel injuries occurring simply by using a mouse. This would make it worse. I can't imagine working all day with my arms stretched out touching a screen. On the other hand a hellofa deltoids workout πŸ˜„

Well, updates have been generally smooth, but when I tried to install the buggy video card drivers from nvidia it did hang. Just out of curiosity, what antivirus do you have in Windows 7?

I have not had any problems with my NVIDIA geforce 8800GT, and I have not installed any antivirus software yet, I was going to do that task last. However I'm a bit reluctant to continue at this stage, due to the current problems. I have noticed that there are numerous updates to Windows 7. However I have not kept track of which update the OS was at when this problem occurred.

    • Installation of Windows 7 updates hangs computer

Being a bit geeky, I've been slowly converting over to Windows 7 including my main programs onto a new fresh HDD. While still keeping my main Vista HDD, till I'm satisfied, that Windows 7 is reliable.

So it happened yesterday, on shutting down the Windows 7 HDD, The Installation of 5 of 7 Windows 7 updates, hangs my computer. I finally pulled the plug after 5 hours of supposed updating. Windows 7 still reboots but it tells me it needs to finish installing updates.
(yah right, do I want to go through this again!)

I Googled this problem, .... I'm not alone,
curious, anyone here have the same problem?

I still see no point of a moon colony, if they need a hostile, inhabitable and harsh environment why not just put a base in Detroit, lot cheaper.

I could not agree more, I was watching PBS, apparently Detroit has well over 75 Sq Miles of space dedicated to structures that are uninhabitable, from former factories to houses. Whatever happened to urban renewal?
But we seem to find money to build this kind of stuff. (I found only one place to hang a painting) πŸ˜„

and I finally made some progress, I hope the following info helps those that have Wifi problems with Windows 7 install on their Acer AOD250.

      Hi,
If the PC had two monitors that feed one projector would I be able to view both screens as one screen through projector?
Is it possible to view PowerPoint in slideshow mode and su simultaneously?

I think you still don't understanding my 1st response.
Your computer needs a device to display the information.

      1. If you have a graphics card in your computer that has 2 VGA outputs you can display the following:

      a: 2 Monitors
      or
      b: 2 Projectors
      or
      πŸ˜„ 1 Monitor and 1 Projector

note: the display resolution of the Projectors is not a great yet as it is for Monitors,
however whatever combination you chose, a:, b: or πŸ˜„ above you will be able to view both Powerpoint and SU simultaneously!

    • RE: [Plugin] Import OBJ with Materials v2.1 20131118

Thank you Tig for this wonderful OBJ importer. It means I can now delete all my DXF files which I needed first so I could import into SU.

I'm baffled why this Import feature has not been made part of SU at this late stage of SU development. If it were not for a small group of talented Ruby Scripters, my Plugins folder would not be descending past the bottom of my monitor display. Perhaps Google could, when they find some time, add a scroll bar to the Plugins Folder, or better yet the ability to add more Plugin folders to the menu bar.

    • RE: Using a TV for a monitor...

      Here is another option:
Most if not all Net books have a VGA plug in the side of the unit.

      1. Plug a spare VGA cable from the NET book directly into the back of the LDC TV's VGA port.
      2. Plug a male to male mini RCA cable from the speaker output on the Net book to the speaker input on the TV
      3. Adjust the video resolution on the Net book to maximize output to TV.

    • RE: A virtual PC: Windows XP mode in Windows 7

Last year when I had more time on my hands, I was running an XP window within Ubuntu and I had figured out how to cut and paste between the 2 VM's, not a trivial task. I don't know if all of this VM stuff is getting any easier yet.

Whats more interesting, as far as I'm concerned, is to see how with VM, one is able to create Portable applications that can run on any computer, regardless of which OS the computer is running.

    • RE: Dual Screen Presentation Help

Your 2 projectors are nothing more than having 2 LCD monitors to display information to. You can only do this if your video card that has 2 vga outputs. In my case the output is to 2 LDC monitors. Hence my desktop is 1920 x 1200 for each Monitor, or 3840 X 1200 for the 2 monitors. In your case the Output would be to 2 projectors.
What this means is you can drag, or move with your mouse, any application to the open unused second monitor.

I have to disagree on this

Great looks like we both go back, many years. (how time flies) I used to create my own menu system so I could actually use the program. I recall v2.5 came on 6 floppies. I finally quit using it around release 14. I always thought the AutoCad Users Group was there really only for Autodesk to test their buggy releases, while at the same time charging its customers for that privilege.

But the more important question is why are we still producing 2D drawings for construction in the 21st century? Some of my students ask me that question. My response is, because that's the way its always been done. Hopefully some day in their lifetime some CHANGE will occur.

this cleanup routine is simply outrageous! πŸŽ‰

Yesterday I ran the intersect with modelroutine, hoping to get rid of 3 redundant duplicate planes that each face of an imported model had been blessed with 😒 I finally stopped SU after 4 hours of trying to due that job. the SU file had grown to 600,000k in the task manager window. Your Cleanup routine on the other hand was almost instant.

      Well Done!

      Swine Flu Mortality

This info graphic shows the immense threat
of the Swine Flu compared to other manners
      of death
      ...

There is a little chaos here with the vaccination. Long Queues... some waited almost five hours, in a sub-zero weather. πŸ˜’
Personally, been in a flu almost two weeks (not Swine)... no interest to go out and freeze in those long queue lines.

In the U.S. for 2006, there were 30,896 deaths from firearms
      now that's a pandemic!

    • RE: Google living off the backs of the bruised?

I have issues with SU, http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23448
But I would never trade it for any other 3d software program.

I recently watched a Digital Tutors Maya tutorial, in which the author was drawing a simple interior space, with was developed from a cube. The procedure involved in just trying to see within the cube shaped room, which had no wall thickness, was extremely painful to watch. It really makes one re-appreciate the SU push-pull concept. Btw. It was equally painful to see how windows, doors, and moldings, were handled in Maya.

The stuff Sketchup does can't necessarily be split into multiple tasks to be run simultaneously on multiple cores like rendering operations can. It's not as easy as just throwing more cores into it.

It would really nice if Google threw some money at developing SU. Its not as if they are not making any. Also, its starting to look like Google is taking a page from the AutoDesk playbook. AutoDesk has done virtually nothing with AutoCad over the last 20 years, except change the revision numbers prompting a new release each year.
