    • WTF is going on here!?

This Corner Bar is based on the old SU Corner Bar...a place of great fun, conjecture, arguement and challenge.

So, what's happening here?....well what's REALLY pissing me off is the the continuous barrage of artifically generated 'surveys'.....'What's your favourite dog food?'...'Are you a scruncher or a folder?'...'Do you believe in faries?..and if so, how many do you have as friends?'....and so it goes...ad nauseum.

Can I say, guys, and I dont intend to get personal, you know who you are....this is not a place for continual personal recognition, ego massaging and artifical importance.....its a place that should be far more organic and spontaneous....and INTERESTING!.....things just happen...we dont need all the 'WHAT'S'

    • RE: Don't get me wrong, this is a horrible story...

      Tom,

There is a phenomenon in northern Australia where rubber thongs [or as they are somtimes know,'flip-flops'] get washed up on the beaches. They are nearly always the same foot [cant remember which one].

The theory is, that because each [left and right] thong has a unique and different aerodynamic and aquadynamic shape it travels in a certain direction driven by the wind and currents.
So the left foot thongs end up in Darwin..and the right foot thongs sail on to Fiji or somewhere else.

So possibly all the left feet, in this instance, have landed on some deserted beach in Greenland....or are still bobbing along on the high seas.

Gaieus, there are certainly some people doing great NPR works, me ol' mate Tom for one and of course the unbelievable stuff done by Ernest Burden 111.
But these days there isn't the interest in NPR that was generated by Dennis and Grant Marshall and it would seem that most of the energy devoted to outputting something distinct from native SU is in the PR area. And this is made so much easier today with SU exporters to apps like Kerkythea, Indigo etc and of course Podium.
Im basing these ideas on what I see here, in this forum....and I dont think it's too presumptive to think that what gets posted and discussed here is at the forefront of SU use πŸ˜„

      Ahh Geee,
Been re-reading Lewis's enlightening conversations with the Gooogle VIPs...'Curvey Stuff?'....I think Lewis pretty well summed that up.
'Sketchy Styles?'...well it would have been a real hit about 3 years ago when the 'Watercolour Phase' was in full swing. The greatest exponent ot this style, Mr Marshall, was last heard of talking vaguely of Mondo before he vanished for good].
I think it's fair to say that photorealism is the prefered export option of most 'Pros' these days...and native SU probably works well as the non-PR, this-is-only-a-concept-and-is-easily-changed export. Sketchy Styles/Edges was dead in the water when it was introduced and its pretty depressing that the Google people even need to ask about it's popularity.
Maybe they need to spend even more time checking out this forum. 😒

    • RE: ProgeCAD Smart - Autocad alternative

Ive been having a play with ProgeCad Smart....with the intention of probably buying the pro version.
One useful function for me is being able to export as a PDF [A1 format] for sending to my plot shop.
This is a big step up from mucking around with plotter drivers and something that still, I believe, isn't supported in ACAD LT [correct me if Im wrong]
Generally, though, I'm finding the UI very comfortable and not too different from my old ACAD LT2000
And just a note to Jon above: the crosshairs are editable but cant find how to resize the pickbox...which is annoying but am getting used to the smallish box.
In the end......I'm very inclined to pay $400AUD for something approaching full ACAD specs. rather than around $1800AUD for ACAD LT!
Im happy to put up with a few glitches and bugs, and pocket the $1400!!

select your component, context click and you will see the command.

Clark, thanks a lot for this!!

There is actually a rotate command in Jim's fantastic Mover.rb, trouble is I cant get it to work with Vista.

    • RE: Fitness and Training

There are obviously many different fitness regimes...the important thing is to end up with buffed body, a clear, lucid, razor sharp mind and the ability to fell an adversery, if necessary, with a lightning fast, spinning kick to the jaw.

My program generally goes some thing like this:

Yesterday for example I woke at 10.30am [damn garbage truck]...lit my first Camel for the day and while waiting for the coffee to boil finished the dregs from the cask of red along with some cold left over Prawn and Garlic Pizza [seafood is very important in my diet]

I walked to the letter box and back [heavy, forced breathing]...scoffed a couple of Alkaseltsas, poured myself a stiff Scotch to clear the mind and got down to work.

At midday I jumped in the car drove down to Mackas for a couple of kingsize double cheese burgers with a family serve of chips and picked up a six pack of Fosters on the way back to wash lunch down.

Did a a bit of work but realized I needed some well earned rest so flaked out on the vibrating bed [good for circulation].

Woken about 8 that night by the dog licking my face. I realised my consumption of red wine [good for the heart] for the day was way down so sprinted the 25 metres to th local pub and got the usual 4 litre cask of plonk and by the time I got back home my regular Pizza delivery had just arrived.

After I finished the Pizzas I realised I had forgotten to get a couple of packs of smokes for the night so it was back to the pub [walking this time...more heavy breathing].

So I settled down in front of the TV for the night and finally hit the vibrating bed about 1 AM...the wine had run out anyway.

Im going to be so fit I'll be dangerous!!!
