Oooh, pretty! Great texturing! Great atmosphere as well!
I have my own adverb!

I must confess I feel strange about a great many things. Thus that font is the least of my worries.
Seriously, though: I wanted the image have an 'IKEA feel'. IKEA used to use Verdana, so that's what I went with.
Have a nice weekend.

Also got their Photo app. Just as good!
Yeah, that one looks good as well. Not even โฌ60.
As I needn't be cutting edge -not a pro- that tiny investment would fulfill my photo editing needs for years.
Pretty cool.
Thanks for le tippe, Pilou.
This one has possibly been mentioned before (I didn't read the whole thread): Affinity Designer. Works great, dirt cheap (โฌ54.99!) and loads of fun.
I have no idea whether the app's up to professional standards, but I'm having a blast. (Pay no attention to the compression artifacts in the image below -not Designer's fault.
)
โฌ54.99!
No, I don't work for 'em.

Way better than my first model -whatever it was. Same goes for Jan's.
Well ... in the end it all comes down to the question which app you enjoy using the most. Try extensively, and then follow your gut.
Theaโs a fine app. Itโs hybrid rendering mode (GPU + CPU) is blazing fast. Itโs been over a year, though, since the latest version of the core app, Thea Studio, was released. Since then, the developers have gone shtum. Questions about Theaโs development remain unanswered, promises about forthcoming news turn out empty.
VfSUโs development used to be abysmal. Itโd take ages until bugs got sorted, if at all. However, that has changed since Chaos Group took over. Today, the appโs development is going strong. Vray may be a little slower than Thea, currently, but I have no doubt whatsoever thatโll change. Over the course of the years, Vray (not just VfSU) has only gotten better, and easier to use.
From my perspective, going with Vray looks like the safest bet, at the moment.

The internet will find you regardless!
As will all sorts of creepy crawlers.
Good luck, Baz, and a happy 2018. Do let us know how the house is coming along.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family.

I know youโve been waiting for it, and Christmas canโt really start without it. . .(...)

Merry Christmas, David. I promise: during Christmas dinner I shall raise a glass of Moรซt & Chandon to you and the rest of the teetotaler club.
