East 8th Hotel
These renderings are actually from my girlfriend's project, but she let me post them anyway. They are of a boutique hotel in Pittsburgh that she did for her senior project. Her and I actually had all of our classes together and graduated together the same day, with the same degree (Haha). But she designed and modeled everything on her own....I just helped take her through the rendering process, because she is still learning v-ray and it was easier and more effective for the both of us to work on the rendering process together. I am very proud of her and I love the way her design turned out...I hope to post some more shots later on, but they still need some more post production work. Hope you all like them and any questions, feedback, or critiques are greatly appreciated by the both of us.

RE: Some new Renders..
silver, these are beautiful. U always blow me away with the scale of your projects and amount of details that go into them. Bravo, my friend. And my I apologize if this is a repeat question, by may I ask where you got those trees? Keep it up man, we all love seeing your work.

RE: Animation - Identity Nightclub/Ultra lounge
modelhead: Thank you. I do think post pro gets a bad name, because everyone, myself included, wants to get so good at modeling and rendering and it is a challenge to see how good of results you can get without post production. But it is most certainly a huge part and essential to workflow. Photoshop is enjoyable to me, but the post production in After Effects for this project was really fun...I actually think it was my favorite part

RE: Nomeradona's Interior (update Mar'12)
Nomer, I have seen some great work from you, but these are some of your best and by far, my favorite. Everything about them is beautiful...i didnt get to read the entire thread so i apologize if this a repeat question, but is the design yours as well? I just think everything from the design, to the rendering, to the style is great. Those rugs are amazing and the dirty-yellowish leather on the sofa is great...any chance you could share those settings? Keep up the good work my friend, cause you seem to only be getting better.

RE: Animation - Identity Nightclub/Ultra lounge
As do I, because even with the medium size space I had for my project, I had to try and be as creative as possible piecing this all together because I couldnt do it all in one model file. That would have been impossible and actually made things a little more complicated than they had to be.

RE: Animation - Identity Nightclub/Ultra lounge
Chris: Thank you for the kind words. Personally, I would not say the I spend a whole lot of time at clubs, but I do go to them from time to time. My research showed that there are definately people that go to clubs like this weekly, even daily. It is a huge social thing, especially in bigger cities like New York or Miami. That trend before was to have more of a dance club, but the concept of ultra lounges that offers more spaces to just kind of hang out is becoming the standard. Because I wanted to extend the "shelf life" of clubs, I tried to offer both of these type of experiences to consumer. The spaces are naturallly theatrical and I can completely understand it overwhelming someone. I hope this helped explain better?
Bytor: I forgot to ask you about the burgh, because I think I saw your profile had Altoona, PA. I used to play basketball against Altoona all the time in highschool...I went to Shaler, familiar? But I wish you guys were hiring as well, because I am really starting to get a little worried with graduation approaching and the way the economy is, but who isnt. I understand if you dont want to mention it on here, but I am curious as to what company you are part of? Think you could possibly PM me? Pittsburgh does seem to be doing alright through all of this stuff...a lot of new construction, but companies are still laying off or on hiring freezes. I am currently working at a small firm, but I am still not sure if they will have enough work to keep me busy full time. I guess I will just have to wait patiently and see what happens. Oh, and what is your son studying at Pitt?....I went there for a semester for mech. engineering and quickly realized it was a little too technical for me so that landed me at La Roche, but Pitt is definately a great/fun school. But thank you for all of your kind words and its nice to hear from a fellow pittsburger...go pens
Nomer: thank you
linea: thank you as well
mateo: thank you...I hope this motivates others to attempt something similar, because maybe if some of the SU guys see this sort of thing being produced, they may take the program seriously and give us some better polygon and animation support, but one can only hope.

RE: Animation - Identity Nightclub/Ultra lounge
Thank you all for the kinda words...I would have never been able to put something like this together without this community and I thank u for that. I am glad to see that many of you like the design as well as the animation, because there was a lot of work that went into the concept and design decisions as well.
teo: this was all SU + Vray and then your right...it was composited together in After Effects. Im not gonna lie, there was a lot of post process that needed to be done in order to get the concept across and working with SU to get the animation was a struggle at times, but I wanted to try and prove that SU can be used for animation...even with the poly count and camera limitations. Dont get me wrong, its is not at the level of 3d max and I think we all need to beg and plead for the SU guys to improve upon this and I hope that animations like this will show them how much the program is capable of if they would just change/add some features and get serious about SU being a competetive program next to 3d max and others.
Solo: I wish...it is still an unoccupied site. Maybe I could pitch this idea and get something done...haha . Did I fail to mention that budget was not part of the project so Im imagining that the lighting I used would cost a fortune...oH well
prince: Ill take that as a compliment?
bytor: I am graduating from La Roche College with a degree in Interior Design. It is a small school in Pittsburgh, PA, but they are well recognized for design and art and the program is FIDER accredited which helps us graduates a lot.
Frederik: I used vray
Stefanq & Mateo: Ill take that as a compliment as well...right?
Everyone else, thank you for all the feedback. It is greatly appreciated, and hopefully this will be the first of many animations I will be able to share with you guys.

Animation - Identity Nightclub/Ultra lounge
This is an animation for my senior interior design project. It was a nightclub/ultra lounge called Identity, and the concept was created by the desire to help extend the "shelf-life" of nightclub design, because the turn over rate for nightclubs can be extremely high. I attempted to accomplish this by having multi-ranked V.I.P. levels, RGB color changing light effects throughout, large projection screens over the dance floor to allow for an unlimited range of graphics and effects to create the atmosphere of the club, and many other features. I wanted visitors to be able to feel a "brand new experience" each time the come to the club.
This process began back in september with a senior thesis paper that required extensive research and then turned in to a student project. We had to find a site for the project, and go through all the phases of a design project...we had to bubble diagram, develop a concept, space plan, have a fairly complete set of construction documents, specify all of our products and furniture, and do many of the other tasks that go into an Interior design project. We just had our presentations the other night and that phase of the project was very important to me so I decided to do an animation that would help market the project and nightclub. It was a very long school year and is bitter/sweet to see it come to an end, but I am definitely ready to try and enter the work world full time. I hope you all enjoy this and as always, comments and critiques are welcome and greatly appreciated. (watch in hi-quality for best viewing and I will be posting some still renderings as soon as I can)

RE: Billboard Trees & Shadows..Help?
ahe thats it Gaieus, thats the topic i was thinking about and I forgot that it was more of a service you pay for and thats why I never used it. At least now I dont have to pull my hair out trying to find it. Im gonna try a few of the suggestions and see how that turns out. Thanks guys.

RE: Billboard Trees & Shadows..Help?
ok i just took the texture image and saved it to my desktop...it looks like it may be problematic so let me know if it works for you.

RE: Billboard Trees & Shadows..Help?
I dont plan on rendering it, the clients only want a composited SU view with a photograph... I know the shadows would work in v-ray with the proper masks, but like you said they just give a box shadow because of it only being SU. I just could have sworn that I saw a thread about a ruby that fixes that...something tells me that It was in relation to the SU podium tree collection, because they released their tree collection and so many people were complaining about the shadows and I thought someone came up with a solution; do you or anyone else recall something like that? Because I am not having any luck finding the thread.

Billboard Trees & Shadows..Help?
Ive searched on this forum and tried the podium forum, but had not luck so I was wondering if anyone recalls a thread about a plugin/workaround to get proper shadows for billboard planyt like the podium plant collection? The below image is what I end up with and the square shadows are obviously inacurate... Im looking to get shadows of the trees' outlines and I could have sworn I saw a thread about that, but I cant seem to find it. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
