    • RE: Problems with texturing a model

Never mind. I figure out what the problem was. I needed to select the texture box in the import menu. Sorry about that.

    • Problems with texturing a model

      Hello everyone,

I'm trying to texture a simple cube and am wondering why sketchup is creating a new face when I place a texture on an existing one. Is this an option that I can turn on and off? If not is there a way to texture a cube without having sketchup create a new polygon face on top of my old one? Please let me know.

      thanks,

    • RE: Is there a way to edit UV's in SketchUp?

      Remus,

So the initial UV's that SketchUp gives you are all you get for a non-cylindrical or spherical object?

    • Is there a way to edit UV's in SketchUp?

      Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way to edit UV's in SketchUp. From what I've read I gather that there is no UV editor in SketchUp. So I'm assuming the answer to my question is no. If this is true is then are there any plugins or "work arounds" that allow you to edit a model's UVs in SketchUp?

      thanks,

    • RE: [Plugin] UVTools v0.1

      Hi Whaat,

Since posting my first post I was able to find the "UV tools" context menu. But when I select cylindrical mapping it doesn't seem to be doing anything. A few times it has caused SketchUp to quit. I'm going to try this on my PC and see if it works there. If it works I'll know it's a mac issue.

      thanks,

Could someone please tell me how to use this plugin in sketchup? I put the file in the plugins folder but I do not see a "UV tools" context menu. Please let me know.

      Thanks,

      Gaieus,

Thanks for your advice it worked perfectly. I have one more question. When I import this textured cylinder into Photoshop CS4 extended the texture goes back to the way it was before. I'm not sure why it is doing this. Do you have any ideas about this?

      Gaieus,

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried texturing the cylinder with the method you suggested. It worked but it did not fit the texture to the cylinder "perfectly." Here is what it looks like...

      Picture 7.png

Is there a way to adjust the texture once it's been placed on the cylinder? Please let me know, thanks.

      Remus,

I do not see the edit tab in the materials window. This is what I see...

For you alternative suggestion I wasn't able to see the texture option that you wrote of. This is what I see...

If I'm doing something wrong please let me know. Otherwise could you tell me why I'm not seeing what you wrote of?

      Thanks,

    • Problems texturing a cylinder

      Hello everyone,

I'm trying to texture a cylinder with an image but am having problems. I'm following a tutorial on Lynda.com where a guy uses the paint bucket tool to apply an image to a cylinder. Initially the image doesn't fit properly so the guy adjusts the size of the image in the materials palette. I would like to do this as well except I don't see any place in the materials palette where I can adjust the size of the image. Could it be that the free version of Sketchup 7 doesn't have this ability. Could someone please let me know? Thanks.
