Oooh!!
I like this one!!
Looking good, how about using a stucco texture for the dough?
In all fairness yes you are right, it is an awesome product, an all in one app that if used correctly is amazing. I have faith that with SU Version 7 we will get some organic modelling tools and with Podium V2 (which will be a serious contender to the thrown of renderers) built into the SU UI, we will have an all in one app that will certainly be easier than Modo and render with more ease, simpler and with all the bells and whistles.
I hope somebody in Boulder is watching...those organic tools are important guys.
Thanks for the link by the way, it's artists like him that inspire me to go further, try harder. I use Modo for some modelling, unfortunately I have not really got comfortable with it as SU still has the nicest, instant gratification flow IMO. After SU Modo is definately the best app out there for modelling, however there is a learning curve that I do not feel justified to take the time to master while I already have a fantastic app (SU) that works well for me, if only it had better tools for organic modelling however.
Besides one or two waffles and commissioned requests, I hardly model much scifi scenes. So after the 'nutcracker 300' I decided to start one, I only got as far as the gun turrets and a bit of a space vehicle.
I hope to complete it soon as work slows down for festive season.
The turrets so far.
Nice spoons guys, and great tutorial jean.
Spooning with SU...who would've guessed.
Welcome Maxx.
Daar is 'n paar suid afrikaners op hierdie forum, geniet jou kuir.
Ek voon in Dallas, maar is 'n Suid Afrikaner by hart...genoug nou, ek is nie vlot in die taal.
Thanks
Now that you mentioned it...who in US politics can be considered a nut?, okay how about who is not one?
Just a traditional nutcracker with a newer version, and a future one to follow.
I modelled this in Sketchup and rendered it with Podium. Just a bit of fun while things slow down for the silly season.
This thread in all fairness should be moved to an appropriate section as the actual topic of a Podium render is not being discussed, rather the semantics of the origin of the mesh. As mentioned on this thread, I too import meshes as needed when SU limitations in organic modeling compels me to do so in order to reach my results. I can and have modeled many organic forms that took yonks to achieve, but never good enough to compliment a scene as SU just does not YET have the tools best suited for such workflow.
I must admit I have not really read the rules of participation, not even sure there are any. My assumption is that if it was used within the SU software like posing and texturing it is fine, even if the original mesh originated from a third party program.
Is it possible to get a guideline on posting? What percentage must be SU based for it to be acceptable? Would adding a new section for minimal SU renders help?
I personally believe this is all a misunderstanding really, the ‘Female curves’ posting was as I understand a posting about a curved studio setup in SU where components can be posed to eliminate corner shadows. And this ‘Kapow’ thread is a folly posting which even though not modeled in SU has been posed, textured and rendered within SU.
I would hate for Biebel to stop posting his works as I get much inspiration from his experimentation.
So…to Biebel I urge to reconsider and to Coen, please facilitate these works even if it’s in a new section.
The easiest way will be to create a face on the axis you require, draw your circle and then erase the outer face.

Thank you for your story, I take inspiration from your wisdom. I find myself reminding myself to stop, look, and take the moment to re-evaluate what and where I am and where I am heading.
Welcome Scotty
In the next week or so Podium and Kerkythea(free) will be realeasing their upgraded render engines that are very well integrated into SU, I am not saying they render better than max, rather faster and easier, you may want to have a look into them. If you use v-ray then there is also a vray version for SU which has a bit of a learning curve, but well worth it as the results are awesome....infact they are all great if one takes the time to ace them.
Any questions feel free to ask here, you will be surprised how helpful this forum is.
Can you post the skippy?
What renderer are you using?
