Yes, there are lots of good blender tutorials out there. In terms of specifically getting a Sketchup model into Blender, I would suggest using TIG's obj exporter plugin in Sketchup to save your model file into an obj format that will import nicely into Blender.

If you export to dxf you can view in AutoDesk FormIt. http://autodeskformit.com/getting-started-with-formit/
