• Just a sink

Okay - first time that happened.. now I know why the save draft button is there!

I have had a fever all weekend with the chills, hallucinations and dizzyness that come along for the ride too, so I haven't been up with the s-up lately, but last night I thought I should at least make something. I contributed a stone arch to the "opening" challenge, but I don't see too many people finding that useful, so here is a sink that I saw in a cool hotel in Calgary. It was a remodel of a tower (maybe office or residential?) and had really cool fixtures. This sink is totally impractical - unless you like spraying your crotch with water everytime you go to wash your hands - the depth was only about an inch or so... but here it is with the render from VUE to go with it.

• RE: Industrial Kitchen Equipment

Oh, yeah, sorry Ron - actually I expect to be quite free with my stuff - I had planned to post it all to the old forum once I had the job finished - some might actually remember my toaster with the render and toast that I posted as a teaser a couple of months ago. I am not concerned about giving and not getting, I'm not concerned about my stuff being used willy-nilly - I would be pleased as punch to see that my stuff was good enough to be used in some of anyone's work in here... i guess I'm just concerned about bandwidth and storage. I had 198 things posted on the old forum and never blinked an eye - but If we all post our crap right away - how terrible if we crashed Coen's site - and being so conciensous, I could think that he would pay out of his own pocket to continue for this month if we made the traffic too high. I will post when we are sure that we aren't going to hurt Coen - but till then - email me or pm me and I will email the parts to you.. probably wouldn't hurt to post an image at least though I guess - maybe tomorrow..

<anyone else notice that I use too many hyphens and triple-periods instead of forming proper sentances..? - guess i should work on that>

• Industrial Kitchen Equipment

Okay - Now I know that we don't want to be posting tonnes of stuff here right yet - but as my first act of kindness, I have some industrial kitchen equipment that I would like to share. I have had it for quite some time now, and the project is as good as finished - Big thanks to Ron for the Industrial Dishwasher - it was really good with some modding.. when the client saw the kitchen... I heard him say.."now that looks legit!" so I guess that's good...!

I was holding on to them for the right time... I guess I felt like there were too many who would benefit in the other forum, that I wasn't sure I wanted to.. and I know others feel some form of ownership on something they create - that's why we don't post everything we make...!!!
Seeing the giants on this forum already warms the cockles of my heart (always wanted to say that) and this seems to feel like I imagine the old forum to feel like in the years before I came on board... very nice and great and other nondescript nice words like cool and neat-o

I will not post the models yet until I get the picture that the site is stable, there isn't too much traffic or storage etc... but I would mention my email visuals3d <AT> gmail <dot> com if anyone needs/wants these right away. I am still working on my modelling and have realised 2 things:

1. I am a perfectionist
2. I will never achieve it!

I had great intentions on all of these, they were each built with specs from the manufacturers pdf info sheets but I would be surprised if they were perfect. Please let me know how to improve in the future if you request these.. thanks!

I have:
Cleveland Tilting Skillet
Hobart 30Qt Floor Mixer
Vulcan VG260 Range
Vulcan Convection oven V66G (double)
Frymaster MJ-35 Deep fryer
Cona Rotary Toaster

What's a good party without food!!

(I also posted because I see father Christmas is ahead of me in posts!!! πŸ˜„ )

• RE: Extrude ellipse on 3 degrees axis

I'd love to help - but can you explain the problem in greater detail?
I'm not sure if you want to have a cylinder that is sitting at 87deg or a curved "elbow" pipe that bends 87 deg.

you could make a circle and then turn it into an elipse with the scale tool (you likley knew that already) then you could rotate it by making a cube (to give you a surface to base your rotation on) and using the rotation tool and holding shift while hovering over the cube side that you want to have as your rotation plane (like the side or back instead of the default "top" that the rotation tool will give you) then place the tool (while holding shift) on your elipse edge and click. Type 87 (that goes in the vcb automatically) and hit enter. Your elipse should have gone from sitting flat, to near vertical. you could extrude it then with push-pull.

If you want to have it extrude up the blue axis and then bend to the left at an 87 degree angle, draw your elipse and find the center. Draw a line up the blue axis as far as you want the "pipe" to travel, then draw your angle using the same method (with the cube) and the protractor tool (should be under the measuring tape) and then draw a line to meet your vertical line. Select the Follow-me tool (icon looks exactly like what we are going to do) and click while on the elipse face, follow the vertical line you made, and then follow the 87 degree line.

Does this do it? I didn't exactly understand your question, so let me know.

There are some decent textures for anything from stonework to hair to brick and wood to be found here:

Spiral Graphics makes Genetica (an awesome texuring program that costs some serious quid) and Wood Workshop which is free and pretty cool for boards and tile work etc...

worth checking out at least I say.

• RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Another Curve That's Got Me Stumped

Bernard, could you post a picture of what the cord should look like? I don't know that i can help, but I would like to try, and I don't understand what the cord should look like..
Shaun
Okay, I gave 'er a rip, I am using a really slow laptop, so, the imperfection will have to do. I just started drawing lines everywhere I thought the cord would shoot out into in 3D space, then I smoothed them out with curves.. then messed with follow-me, which took this machine forever, so I won't really be too interested in going back. You can see my rough path if you go into Xray mode..
I actually couldn't manipulate this file even in wireframe, so either it's wayyy too heavy, or
