Chris,
These are fantastic but i was captivated by the laser projection on to the building
I am wanting to do something specila for a building down here in NZ but I imagine the $$$ for this sort of technology will be right up there.

Great detail and stunning images.
The only Critique I have is perhaps a lack of people in the images to give an idea of scale.
Dan, yep got it all going.
Thanks for your help.
Well,
I have everything working except my most valued plugin....Profile Builder. I have messed it up somewhere, it doesn't[/img] work in SU7 now either. Below is a screen shot of the error I get. Any help to get PB up and running in SU8 would be appreciated.

TIG,
Thanks for the quick response, I will have a closer look this afternoon

Hi all,
Had a go at transferring my plugins over to SU8 and am having problems with profile Builder and Twilight. I was very careful to put everything in the exact spot where it was in SU7 plugins folder but obviously not careful enough. My transfer method was copy each and paste into SU8 plugins folder.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I am a big fan of layout and what it can do but after today I am having my doubts about it. I had to a presentation today to a very important client of mine on a very important project for my business. I only had a day or so to pull it together so rather than use Powerpoint like I normally do I thought what the heck I will give the LO presentation function a go. I pulled it together in no time. I had several models referenced in along with some JPG images. An hour before the presentation I noticed LO was locking up / showing signs of instability as I was putting the finishing touches to it. It was at this point I started to get worried. I thought that it may not like the shortcut I created to my desk top so I deleted it and decided i would open the presentation straight up from the file.
All should be good right....wrong. half way through the presentation LO locked up and crashed. I had to keep the conversation going with a room of 10 people while I rebooted and opened it up again. Well it did it again and I had to finish the presentation in normal layout format rather than in presentation mode.
Extremely embarrassing
and very annoying
to say the least.
Has anyone else had this problem? I would be interested to hear from you. Not that I will be taking a risk and using it again. I will stick with Powerpoint thanks.
bmike,
I am really liking these drawings. The 3D bolted connection details are great

Bj,
Its when you pull the dimension up, there is an example of it at the top of the LO drawing. The dimensions are different. One is taken horizontally across the room, the other diagonally and pulled up. Normally the dimension adjusts to suit the width, in this case the dimension stays with the diagonal length. Hope I am making sense

BJanzen,
Layout file is attached for you to have a look. Its bound to be some of my sloppy drafting but atleast if I know, I wont do it again.

I am not actually dimensioning a 3D model, I am using SU simply to produce a 2D plan as you would in say auto cad. I have done this many times before and not had a problem. It just seems to be this one particular one I have done that is causing me grief. If I save a DWG from the 2d plan in SU and reference that in LO there is no problem.
Stan
I am having a similar problem to this. I am using SU to produce a simple 2D plan with wall thicknesses and door swings etc etc. My problem is when I reference the 2d plan into LO for dimensioning they dont seem to behave normally. Normally when i dimension in LO eg a room sometimes I go from the corner and run diagonally to the opposing wall line or corner click and pull the dimension perpendicular to the wall I want to dimension. The dimension normally corrects itself to match the actual length but it still displays the diagonal length. This issue has caused me a fair bit of embarassement on a project.
The only thing that I can think of is that during the creation of the 2D plan I do a fair put of cut and paste push and pull and copy so somewhere I may have created a second level of geometry obscured by the another level that the dimension is picking up on.
Any help with this frustrating issue would be appreciated. Thanks
Stan
Bjanzen,
Thanks you, I like the idea of different dimension styles in my scrapbook, I will have try that one out. Thanks again

Thanks guys, i thought there might have been a setting hiding away somewhere that I haven't found yet. It a bit of a pain having to go through and edit each individual dimension especially if working on smaller scale stuff.
Maybe we will be able to format the "look" of the dimensions more readily in the next iteration of LO

Stan
I know this might be a really silly question but I cant figure out how to adjust the height of the dimension leader line above the dimension line. Refer attached.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mitchel,
Love your CD drawings, always very inspirational to see someone using SU/LO to its full potential. Do you use the 3Skeng tool in alot of your work? I am starting to find this tool as well as profile builder essential in my workflow.
Although we are Architects, in the past year we have had opportunities to get more involved in heavy industrial work like galvanising plants, cement plants, a milk powder factory and even a rotary cowshed of all things. This work has come exclusively through our abilities to model these relatively complex industrial forms in SU quickly and efficiently.
