RE: Mixed Use Student Housing Proposals
Are you on Sketchup Pro 2013?
It works perfectly on Sketchup Pro 8 but once you save a file in Sketchup 2013 you can never go back. So many huge models stuck in 2013 so I was losing my mind trying to model in 2013 without Plugins. Finally figured out the disable Vray workaround. Thank god!

RE: Mixed Use Student Housing Proposals
Yeah Round Corner, Weld, Purge, Curve Maker, Curviloft all crash instantly or as soon as the process is over. If you disable the Vray Extension they work perfect. Its a workaround but I hope they fix it soon.

RE: Mixed Use Student Housing Proposals
The new version of Vray is awesome other than making most plugins crash when its enabled. The proxy feature lets you put almost unlimited high poly (I tried multiplying car models to the horizon and it worked) You can use more than 20 3D trees (the limit in old Vray)
The grass was a last minute addition I think i have it worked out better now.

RE: Quick and Dirty Spec House
Working from construction drawings speeds up the process I've cranked out models faster from sketches
Maxwell was used to accurately model the lighting from an HDRI and many elements from the Podium model pack bring a bit of realism to a smaller budget render.
I did this one in 4 hours from a JPG architectural sketch

Quick and Dirty Spec House
Cranked this one out in half a day for a client. Thought it came out great!

RE: Detroit Office Building and Hotel
The interior renders had something like 250 lights, half IES, half rectangular lights for the can lights in the ceiling. It broke VRay to render them at 1280x960.

Vray black squares and splotches
I have been using Vray for years and never seen this problem. The render took 7 hours at 1280x960 and at the last hour these artifacts showed up. I checked the memory usage for sketchup and it was 3.2-3.4gigs in the task manager.
If I render smaller 640x480 its fine. If I try to render larger than 1280x960 it never reaches the frame buffer.
Any ideas?

Detroit Office Building and Hotel
A cool project bringing new life into an abandoned 700,000 sq foot office building in the heart of Detroit, MI. I went the NPR route to explain the project for a quick proposal. It came out great for the time invested.
Existing abandoned building linked below.

Sundai Japanese School in Michigan
A unique project with some very saturated, vibrant corporate colors, client wanted a render to verify owners material selections because of its polarizing colors. Sundai has traditional Japanese Schools in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Malaysia, Shanghai, Pudong, and one in MICHIGAN?
Check it out! VFSU & Photoshop.

RE: Bachelor Pad / Mancave Test Renders
The armchair as well as most of the furniture in the model are from the Podium Browser PAID version. It is an excellent timesaver and the models are high quality.

RE: Bachelor Pad / Mancave Test Renders
Used a different visopt for better light, check it out.

RE: Decorative border
Mine doesn't slow down ever, there was one time I tried to load 20 floors of fully furnished apartments into a high-rise and it froze for 5 minutes but the floors loaded and rendered after the freeze.
