      Hello all,
Been out of touch for the last year. I noticed SU 7 has been issued,I updated my SU pro version and noticed on the SU website there is a style builder now. I just ran a upgrade once I opened SU, do I have the builder now or do I have to load it. I lookS as if I still have the old version of styles.

    • Education Advice

I have been thinking about earning my bachelor degree starting this fall. Of course I would prefer to keep my studies within the design realm such as graphic design, animation,
      visual art, etc..you understand.

My situation is no colleges in my area offer this other in a associates degree which I already own three of. This leaves me with looking into online degrees and from what I have seen via internet is very confusing and could be a waste of money.

Can I get some recommendations across the board of "respectable online degrees" for design. I am also undecided on a major so throw some variety my way. Thank You.

So is it best to render a basic size jpg in SU then resize in PS?

If you go to a Kinkos they will give you a proof for approval. I've printed large format at several different shops (eg. Colorworks) and have never had any problems. I always give them a photoshop file. I would suggest matte paper with laminated finish -- best color rendition plus UV protection, and mounted on gatorboard.

What is the typical cost for this?

    • Printing Renderings

I was thinking of taking a couple renderings to a photo shop or office max for example and printing to a large scale such as 24x36 or 18x24. What issues do you think I could run into.

Most will be final rendered in 3d max. Not sure to start especially with what size render to, should I final in photoshop?

Any ideas or am I asking to much.

Just thinking of some wall art for my office, what better than your own work.

Hum...there was a time I could have used those.

But I dont know what is worse ....getting wedged or having my drawers put out in front of everyone.

I noticed the Sundance channel is running a show at 10:30 am eastern US time. It is supposed to touch on urban development according to my channel info. Not exactly sure what this is going to cover but I would have felt bad if it is informative to some of you archies on the forum and I didnt not pass it along.

I will prob watch the first few minutes to see if grabs my attention.

    • RE: Animation

What I have had to do is create 4 to 6 different animated scene perspectives in SU and then export the animations to post editing and create a transition between the perspective scenes to cut out the knee-jerk. So instead of attempting a full 360 just create a handful of sweeps around different parameters of the structure and post edit for smooth transitions and this will give you more creative flow once you get the big picture.

Can you give a brief outline on your workflow and the techniques you used?

      Thanks.

    • RE: Irender

      Thanks.

Yeah this is were I get in trouble when I stumble onto yet another engine. Its a double edge sword I guess because though I find new engines here and there that I may be interested in I takes me away from completing my studies on the previous version I stumbled on.

I have to get a grip or experience a intervention before I overdose on render engines. 😒

Has anyone here used the irender plugin?

    • RE: Kerkythea, Podium or Paranesi

I understand the logic very well. I have experienced the lack of standards and the confusion its creates within operations and leaves certain individuals hung out to dry. If you install all three engines and train everyone equally on there functions then fine, but your not going to find a company that will take the time to implement that so they choose one.

    • RE: Animation Pricing Structure?

As far as it goes here we adjust with the client. Your clients might have a preferred method of how you charge so its easier for them to sell the idea to who ever. In a nutshell we charge for modeling ,lighting, and material per hour and then we charge for what we call rigging the set for aniamtion which is a flat fee inturn is priced in phases depending on duration.

Oh, and I would be ecstatic if someone in the forum would do a educational tutorial on the proper set up for creating a dvd for set top and pc's. I dont know why but I at times have trouble fine tunning my post production settings for low file size and getting the animations to play on set tops. I do use Adobe Premier.

      Anyone?

Bye the way I noticed your studio forum. My cousin by marriage is building a studio in New York right now so I sent the link to my wife so she can get it to him. He taught himself SU so he could design the concept.Thought it was interesting.

Yeah its becoming a fad here in the US also. My wife is a timberframe designer and its a big alternative source to insulation. It is also use in plaster formed housing if I am not mistaking.
