Right on man! That is beautiful!
Now what I am going to do is start breaking it apart so I can figure out how to do this on my own!
Thanks again,
Pat

Thanks Chris...that sounds right!
Can I ask, do you have a job that you use sketchup for or is this just a hobby?
Thanks again for your generosity!

I just got to thinking of something you might like to know
These are the heights that our risers can be adjusted to: from a low of 4" to a high of 72" in 2 " increments.
Not sure if this is useful but I thought I'd throw it out there!

VERY COOL!
Toggling the chairs on and off = excellent
Toggling the right and left rails on and off = fantastic
Could you make a state for the "rear" rail?
I am not sure of the correlation between the legs and the height. The platform will always have four legs, I just need to be able to directly specify the overall height of the legs.
Again, I truly appreciate your willingness to share!
Pat
Thanks Chris!
Here is the file. Like I said, The only thing I'd like to have change is the leg height.

Hello All,
I would like to make a dynamic component of a seating riser for my
theatre. Currently, because there are SO many different platform
shape / leg height combinations, I have to create a different whole
component for each iteration. What I'd like to do is have one
component that I insert into a drawing or copy and then be able to
specify the leg height.
These are the four objects I'd like to have in the dynamic component:
legs - editable
platform - doesn't need to be edited
railings - doesn't need to be edited
chairs - doesn't need to be edited
I would though, once I insert the DC into the drawing and adjust the
leg height is to be able to remove one or more railings or chairs.
I have tried going through the tutorials but am not getting anywhere.
I'd be happy to share a leg/platform/railing/ chair combination to
anyone who is interested in taking a look!
Thanks a ton!
Pat
