      Nice Rob,

Are there no artists coming ?
      special act ?

Actually no, we only had a budget off 800 euro, which included renting the beachclub and all that so were pretty much down to nothing budget wise πŸ˜›.

As for the special acts three Dj's will be handeling the wheels of steel that night. Beeing me and 2 of my friends, so that should be a kick about 200 - 300 people coming so πŸ˜„.

      @ JuanV.Soler:
I have no idea why you can't load it, perhaps the image is too big (its only 1.3 megs though) either that or it's win98 thats beeing stubborn. Sorry

To prevent spam most pro fora and such (mostly computer fora like tweakers.net and such) convery your email adress to an image, that way html spiders can't find it. I recommend doing the same here Coen. What also is done often is making sure that the email adress with which you register is one that is registered to a university or a provider in stead of a free provider. Keeps the spam down.

Hmm the first one had more warmth to it, probably because of the red wall on the left. I kind off miss that in this render.

A video or some screenshot anything really would be more than welcome. I have to finish a pair of decent renders in 2 weeks of a building I am currently designing, and after seeing your renders I would love to do it with modo and a good tutorial πŸ˜„.

Yes both the highlights and the shadows,

Offcourse with opposite emboss angles on the different layers, put the highlight layer on lighten and the shadows on darken. (soft light works from time to time but you just have to scroll through the blending modes to see what is most fitting).
Ow yes and a sharpen filter also often contributes to the final render.

I use a lot of the techniques I learned when I still was doing a lot of digital art (mostly terraspace http://blaze2x.deviantart.com/gallery/). You learn a lot about mattepainting and you sure as hell get familiar with photoshop.

As to the object, it is a FormFonts resource it's my Compasso D'oro Sidechair. But no credit is needed that is what FormFonts is for right πŸ˜„.

      Edit:
Btw Im sorry for the insanely large screenshots forgot to press the ALT - printscreen button.

And Jeff if you ever find the chance to make a video tutorial or just a tutorial guiding us through your rendering process (From SketchUp to modo to the final render with some post processing, offcourse leaving out the moddeling part πŸ˜›) I would really appreciate it, it would also make a nice contribution to these fora.

      @Jeff,

It's really nice to see my models come back in scene's by other by people. πŸ˜„

On the render itself, it's very well done, Lighting is excelent what I also try every now and then is a small emboss on the highlights and the darks in the image and put them on darken en lighten in photoshop. It creates a subtile difference and a little sharpness in the overall image:

Thanks Rob. That is looking better indeed.
I appreciate this kind of input very much!
I want to learn as much as possible about post 'enhancing' images as I feel this is very important towards the client.
Actually, i still have to put the final images on CD-rom for the clients, so I can still try to 'enhance' them before handing them over.

Your method is used in the next image (same patio view as before but with photoshop content added).
Is this better than the previous one? ...the scrubs in front seem to be quite dominant...

You could work with a layer mask, basically that means that you delete the soft light layer in the spots where you don't want the items to pop outs as much.

You could do with a little less grain in my opinion πŸ˜›.

Also one more thing about your renders, they are excelent though a little bland if you ask me, what you could do is open them up in photoshop and edit them a little to enhance the colours:

      Before:

      http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r3/kwistenbiebel1/view5a.jpg

      After:

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/Blaze_X/Untitled-1.jpg

What I did was dublicate the original twice so that you got the same layer three times, then put the top two on soft light to enhance the colours. After that sharpen one of the soft light layers and merge.

    • RE: Don't Smoke !

Ah that is bad indeed waking up coughing, do you go through a pack a day? Personally I share your habit:

I started 3-4 years back, smoked for a year (half a pack a day) then decided after a year well this will be the end of that, so it was, got a major headache for 2 days but that is all the withdrawl I had.

A few years later I picked it up again and am now smoking 5-8 sigarettes a day avarage, which also means that on some days when I go clubbing or so I go through a whole pack and sometimes don't smoke for 3-4 days without any problem.

I have never experienced much problem with quiting, my advice get something else to take your mind of smoking, I started chewing gum like mad went through 1 pack a day. Good for your teeth too. I think if you want to quit you can, it is all about willpower. Just like wall climbing, when your muscles just don't want to go anymore you just dont have the strength, you can often can climb that extra wall on willpower to build up that extra strenght, your muscles will hurt like hell the next morning but you can do it.

Why do you see smoking as a problem for yourself? It can be a problem for others but for yourself?

    • RE: GeForce 8600GT display issues...

This is rather interesting seeing I am considering buying the 8600GT, I have heard however that SU DOES NOT utilise dual or quad core power. It uses just a single core and doesnt know how to deal with more. Something I expect seeing fixed in SU7.

So it's logical you won't see any improvement. As far as the AA goes that is just relative to the amount of lines displayed the more lines the more SU leans on your gfx card, however apart from that it just leans on your core, for exporting for modelling, for handeling big models, all of it.

So in theory a single core 3.4 gigahertz would be faster with SU than a 2.6 quad. Sad really if you ask me.

As to RAM, ram you only need when the program tries to massload information. Something SU does not do as far as I know, it can do perfectly with 1 gig. I tested this, I was modelling a pretty heavy model and copied it entirely trying to load up my 3 gigs of ram though it didnt jump any higher than 700. And this was a big model!

    • RE: Laptop to Large monitor via VGA

My roommate has a 22" widescreen samsung, and it is connected to his laptop through VGA however, the screen does show a little flicker when the laptop isnt connected through a charger, really strange. He does however know that it's the fault of the VGA of the LAPTOP, not of the screen seeing the screen preformed fine on aswell VGA as DVI on my computer and on the DVI output on a laptop in a workstation (thuss also powered).

Don't know if the same thing is the case with you but I recommend testing it in the store where you buy it!

      Thanks alot Brad!
This will save me and the guys over at FF quite a bit of time!

If anyone is interested in advancing this ruby,
A window in which you can tick the exports and specify their file names and their location would be awesome.

But for now this works perfectly! It indeed is nice to breath clean air Brad πŸ˜‰ !
