    • RE: Trouble getting models to open in SU8 instead of 2015

I have had this problem as well. I like using 2014 but everything opens with 2015 instead. What you need to do is right click on the file. Go to properties then click "Change" where the Opens with option is. Browse to find the 2015 location (Program Files\Sketchup) rename the start up file and add a 1 after it so it becomes "Sketchup1" Now locate the sketchup 8 folder (Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Sketchup ๐Ÿ˜Ž click the Sketchup application. Hit open then OK and Apply.

From now on any skp file should open with Sketchup 8.

      Hope this helps

    • Drawing In Metric Issues

      Hello All,
I am having some difficulties working with metric sketchup vs. imperial sketchup.
First off my importing from dwg format. For example if I import a line at 1000mm
it imports at 304800mm. I have double checked my Templates as well as my units.

The work around I have come up with is a scale factor of .003281 but this does not
help when I have to keep importing my dwg after changes from there and then having
      to rescale everything each time.

I also found that when I scaled my model down I experience extreme model disappearing
      when I zoom in.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks
      dave

    • RE: Draping CAD plan onto contours

I work with similar models in the landscaping industry,
What works for me is to have your terrain that you created with your sandbox tool (make sure its exploded - not a group)
Then make your road a group, edit the group and use your pull tool and pull your road up past and through your terrain.
Then exit out of your group and select both you terrain and road ground and then use the interest with selected tool.
      Hope this helps

    • RE: I really need your help about xp, vista, and hardware?

Zilonx on your 24gb machine what size sketchup files are you running and how many faces typically do you have in your models? We have a problem where one file being 85mb runs smoothly but a file being only 15mb runs very poorly or not at all on the same machine...any ideas why that would be?

The 85mb file has 3,843,550 faces
The 15mb file has 2,148,937 faces
