    • RE: SketchUp 2019 release

SU 2019 is out; check the Trimble website.
Subscription based...now at twice the annual Service and Maintenance cost. I guess it was bound to happen.

Now I have to purchase it before my 2018 ends so I can 'Train' the students I have. No discount for Accredited Trainers as far as I can tell. I did apply for the Teacher's edition $0.00 and where it asks for the School Name I put Accredited Trainer as per SU website! haha lets see what they say πŸ˜‰

    • RE: SU17 Out of Memory Issue & Move/Ctrl to copy Crash

I'm still having this problem though to a lesser extent, don't know why. I've updated when SU said there was one, twice since I began this tread...maybe its that.

As I'm moving around a large model [also move/ctrl, rotate/ctrl] sometimes the monitors go Black for a second or two before they refresh. And, every-so-often it will crash during this event. Since the GPU Stress test I ran awhile back was fine I ran Memtest86 [a 4 hour memory test] and it also came back perfect. I can only conclude its SU17 that is buggy.

We'll just have to continue reporting every crash and hopefully they will fix it. πŸ˜„

      Just an Update to everyone.

I shut off the AutoSave feature and have not crashed since. Turned it on again for validation and voila! CRASH within 15 minutes. So definitely something is wrong with the AutoSave feature, at least on my computer.

Ran a Furmark GPU Stress Test for over 2 hours and it came back successful. No problems there.

Note to self: Remember to 'click' Save, often.

      Thanx Rich

All saves are Local...though many of my files are huge. The current one is 154,585kb.

I've done a Clean Install of SU17 and I still have the same issues. I've noticed that when I move/ctrl or other similar command, SU17 does a Autosave; why, I don't know. And its during this save, with the creation of the Autosave*.skp and *.tmp file that it crashes. I'm going to shut off Autosave for a bit to see if its that. Then, if not, I'll run a GPU stress test to see if its that's causing the crash. Come January the computer is 2 yrs old.

    • RE: [Plugin] Shell

      Hi Tomas

Today its working fine...the Ruby Console says that Points are not planar.

I've been having a few problems with SU17. 'Out of Memory' freeze and Move/Ctrl place crashes. maybe be it has something to do with those things. see my post: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11%26amp;t=66314%26amp;e=0

      thanx for the quick reply!

    • RE: [Plugin] Shell

I've used the plugin for a few years very successfully but in SU17 I can't seem to get it to commit by using the Enter key and a set distance, in this case 1".

I even drew a 1" line to try with the mouse and curser but that didn't work either. dbl click, triple, didn't matter. It did work with larger offsets, 4"+.

      any thoughts?

    • SU17 Out of Memory Issue & Move/Ctrl to copy Crash

This has happened numerous times in SU17 for me [never in SU16 with the same computer and less ram]

      I have a ASUS ROG G751JY, i7-4710HQ @2.50GHz, 64bit, 32GB ram, GTX 980M graphics [updated] running Windows 10 OS Build 14393.477.

I'm not doing anything unusual, but it seams to happen when I dive in or out of a group or component to edit it and using the hide/un-hide model [keyboard s/c].

Also SU17 has been crashing when I use the Move/Ctrl or Rotate/Ctrl place sequence. I'm getting at least 7 crashes an hour with this. There is a tell that its about to crash; you get the blue spinning wheel and I noticed the AutoSave function actively creating/deleting the tmp file in another window [on another monitor] then the crash. So I don't know if its the Move/Ctrl or the AutoSave that is causing the crash.

Anyone else have these issues or know what is causing them?

      thx in advance

    • RE: SketchyPhysics 3.5.6 (26 January 2015)

I work in the film industry as a set designer and I loved this plugin back when I was still using SU2013. It helped me show how a prop might work and to animate a stoyrboard sequence for a set but I haven't been able to use it since:{...

I also do Product Design on the side and you can understand how indispensable this plugin is for that.

Please, Please update for SU2015 64bit and onward. Most of us in these types of industries rely on Sketchup over Maya, ACad, Rhino, Solidworks etc. because of how quickly we can show a client a 'working' model.
