I seem to recall that it is possible to affix or paste text to faces in models. I've forgotten how to do it and cannot find any instructions searching here or in the guide.
BTW: Is the D'oh Book searchable?
TIA

When I tried that I was able to open my model file but only in read-only mode. I went to my File Explorer and clicked on it to open and was able to edit the model and save it.
Don't have any idea what I did to start.
Thanks for the feedback, guys!!
Is SU 2017 Make no longer free?
After using it last night, when I tried to open it today, I got this screen:
It seems to be forcing me to Pro. Is this the case? Can I still open SU 2017 Make? If so, how?
EDITED TO ADD:
I was able to open SU files in Read-Only mode but cannot continue my model and save it.
In a model of an offset strap hinge, I've been able to get everything I intended for the first pass - except - how to show a countersink.
I've got the outside diameter at 1/4" and the inside diameter at 1/8". I even got the angle from the outer circle edge to the inner circle edge. I thought that I could use the Follow Me tool and create the sloping countersink, but I get a message saying that Follow Me doesn't work with circles.
I know I've done this before but it has been about 3 years since I last used SU. Could someone please give me some guidance?
Thanks, Dave!!
Clearing cache and history allowed me to log in to the 3D Warehouse
When I try to log in to 3D Warehouse, what credentials should I be using? I thought that since I had to set up a Trimble ID that it would be those credentials that I would use to log in. I have tried that without success. I get the message shown in the attached screenshot. My Trimble ID credentials are NOT the same as the ones I use to log in here. I copied and pasted both the email address and password to avoid typos.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, again, Dave!
I was able to set up a Trimble. I got the email and verified the account and got a message saying I was successful. Now, however, when I go to the 3DW in SU2017Make and choose the sign in option, I'm given a panel asking for email address, first and last name and password. I then get an error saying that the password must contain special characters; however, I copied and pasted it from the password manager software where I got it to create the account.
I'm beginning to believe it's a case of 'you can only go there if you've been there before but you can only go once.'
I must be dumb as a whole box or rocks because I can't find a way to set up a Trimble ID.
I get to a panel that asks for an email address, but whatever I enter comes back as an invalid email address. I get to this by choosing the 'set up a Trimble password' option.
I've searched the Trimble web page without success. I've come to it from the 3D Warehouse page to provides the information saying that to continue to sign in with google requires a licensed copy. I want to set up a Trimble ID and continue to use the free SU Make 2017 version.
How do I get past this impasse?

If I have Trimble credentials, I don't know what they are. Should I just create a new account? I didn't have to provide any to download the free SU Make 2017.
I'm not, strictly speaking, a newbie; but it's been about 5 years since I used SU. Much has changed. I was finally able to download and install SU Make 2017. I've opened a file I created in SUV8 successfully, but I can't seem to get into the 3D Warehouse. I understand that 2017 Make and 3D Warehouse are compatible.
It seems - correct me if I'm wrong - that I need to log in to 3D Warehouse because without doing so I get no hit on Pocket_screws which I believe to be in the warehouse. I found the button at the top right and tried to use the same credentials I used to get in here but to no avail.
Do I need to create a separate set of credentials with Trimble in order to get to the 3D Warehouse? Am I wrong in expecting to get into the Warehouse from 2017 Make? What am I missing?
TIA

Why does the ExtensionStore 3.0 login panel below show up every time I open a file in SketchUp? It is pretty annoying. Is there something I can do to stop it?
So, SU lacks precision?
I can make any ratio I want, obviously. The question is why doesn't SU have the requisite precision?
I've been trying to use SU to do some geometry that should result in the Golden Ratio or, 1:1.61803. The geometry is to erect a perpendicular line of the same length at the end of a base line forming a 90 degree angle. Then a circle with radius half the length of the lines is drawn with the angle point as origination. An hypotenuse is then drawn from the center of the vertical line to the open end of the base line. Next the length of half the original lines is marked on the hypotenuse using the intersection with the vertical leg of the angle as origination. Then a circle is drawn using the open leg of the baseline (opposite the angle) as the origination and a radius to intersect the point on the hypotenuse. Where that circle intersects the baseline should mark the 0:0.61803 ratio on the baseline.
When I make a drawing starting with a square with 10" sides and drawing arcs of correct radii at the appropriate points of origin then measure the distance along the baseline I get a ratio of 0:61730. The model info settings are for decimal with 6 point length precision, length snapping set to one unit at that precision, and angle settings at 0.000 and 1 degree.
Why does SU not produce the correct geometry?
Thanks for the response, Voder.
I'm running on a PC, but the little grab bars have disappeared from the tool groups. They are what I grabbed to drag the groups before; however, because the bars are gone there is nothing to grab. I can add groups from View/Toolbars - even duplicating groups that are already appearing - and they have the grab bars but those that appear with choosing large tool group do not have them.
Again, thanks for the response.

I've been using SU for quite awhile and can usually find a way to do what needs to be done; so I'm not, technically speaking, a newbie, but I have a newbie sorta question about toolbars - the large tool set.
I'm using 6.4.122. In the past I was able to select a toolbar group and reposition the group in the stack which I keep at the left of the screen. Now I want to move the camera group and place it below the modification group slipping the construction group down, but I can't seem to find a way to select the group. Before I could use select, drag and drop; but I don't remember how I made the selection.
Has this changed? Can I do what I want to do? How?
TIA
