I've noticed the same graininess with bumped area's. Bumps and discplacement in Vue are best done with normal maps. Just check the displacement block in bump settings and load your normal map in the function editor. I use Pixplant 2 to make normal maps. make sure u set to object paramatric, for accurate results. Here are some good links for tutorials.

      Hi Adam,

I to have been playing with Vue for a few weeks now, and I can tell you that it's all in the Lighting.
GR is the best setting but also the slowest one. I've attached a handy tutorial on render settings in Vue. Hope this wel help you. I always prepare scene in Vue till I like it and then I render It in the external render. Its faster then the internal render.

    • RE: Question about VUE (mostly for SOLO)

Vue also has a displacement option. You can use a normal grass texture with a displacement map connected to it in the function editor. Set materials to object parametric. ( otherwise displacement will be off )
Hope this helps. And the grassy places pack is a good option to.

      Hi everybody,

Thanks for the comments. I've posted this render on Cornucopia to ( Vue Forum ) and I've reached the Cream of the Crop section for the first time with this one

Hi Solo, thanks for the comment. Love your render to. Funny things is that I'm currently working on a Bridge house, but a more modern design, with metal panels and iron beam structure.
I agree that there a noise in some area's of the render, but I rendered it on Superior settings so I don't think it has something to do with AA. I think its caused by the area lights.

But I'm still struggling with architectural materials. wood is no problem but steel and brushed metal are hard to do in my opinion.

      Hi Everybody,

Still practicing with Sketchup in combination with Vue. I modeled it from a Photo I saw on somebody's Blog. Still working on the scene but I think it's going in the right direction. Modelled in SU 7 pro and Rendered in Vue 8 Xstream, No pp just raw Vue output. I'm still struggling with architectural textures and bumps. Would love some comments on the render and modeling.

    • (Req) Vue metal materials

      Hi everybody,

I wonder if anybody has some good metal textures to use in Vue. I need metals like brushed metal and metal for beams in architectural scene's.

Why would we be mad because we are Dutch? I'm proud to be Dutch. We have a rich History and great social benefit system. We are the ones who founded NY and most americans are decendents from the Dutch. I agree that the 10 km speedskating can be boring but speedskating is a sport the Dutch practice for a long time ( since 1225 )so we are very proud of our sport πŸ˜„

    • Vue Renders

      Hey everybody,

I've been playing with Vue for the last two weeks in my spare time. Here's the result. The first renders I made following some tutorials from Geek at Play. the tutorials really help me getting to know Vue. The last one with the Windmill is my own idea because I wanted to make a picture representing Holland πŸ˜„
I would love some comments on the renders since i'm just starting Vue.

    • RE: Vue 7 Infinite

      Hi everybody,

I have a question about animation rendering in Vue. I've made a small animation of an airplane flying. I wanted to render it so I put in the settings at Animation render options. I'm using the external render option, saving as an Avi and selected to render the whole animation. Now the problem. When I hit the render button it only renders 1 frame out of 339 ( i think ). Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I'm using Vue 8 on a Core to Quad with 4 gb.

    • RE: Vue 7 Infinite

      Hi Everybody,

I recently started to take a look at Vue. I think the workflow from SU to Vue is realy easy. First use plugin called View to Vue, then export model as OBJ. In Vue import model -> edit object-> weld and split ( then you get a list of materials by name. Then load the exported camera view as a Phyton script.

Al materials you make in Vue can be saved to make your own collection. I you're interested in Vue, check outy the tutorials at Geek at Play.

    • RE: First Vue Render

      Hi Everybody,

I had the same thing with Vue. Downloaded it once but the interface was so confusing in relation to sketchup and let's say Kerkythea, that I didn't try to make a decent render. But when I recently saw some Tutorials at Geek at Play http://www.geekatplay.com/tutorials.php I started to dive into it.
Siolo gave me some good pointers. I used Vue 8 Xstream and the render didn't took very long. Thing about 1 hour. Materials are done in SU and most are from CG textures. Hope to post more Vue renders soon.
