I see your 2 stroke exhaust worked out. How did you decide the model it?
Great model by the way
thanks for the advice in the other thread! I used the follow me tool, then selected each circle to re-size. still some more tweaking to do, but after the smooth tool is used it should look quite nice.
after the model is complete, i'll build a bike stand and start playing with render programs. i've not yet tried that.
thanks!

more updates. I plan to subdivide and smooth a few of the parts before calling it complete. File is currently 4mb.
Remaining parts include:
as always, i'm open to suggestions!
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
to type an explanation without a visual would take several pages.
the goal is to create an expansion chamber, like that for a 2 stroke motorcycle exhaust. see google images here.
suggestions?

more additions. Current file size just over 3MB
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
currently under 1.5 MB
When finished, I'm thinking it will squeek in just under 5MB

started to tinker with an idea a few days ago, and now i'm all for taking it to a completed model.
A few years ago, when I first discovered sketchup, I found a KTM 125 SX bike on the 3dwarehouse. That one model had captivated me into modeling. I started with sketchup by reposting a few models from the warehouse after editing. Slander from some members, and some spam from others, lead to me deleting several models from the warehouse. I still have the bikes I made edits to in the warehouse, and in 2009 I built a "pit bike" using a few of the components from KTM model.
This time, i'm starting from scratch. should take me a few months, but with the cold weather and wife telling me to put a hold on winter car & truck projects, this should keep me entertained.
attached are a few screen shots.
*i'll be in the shop tonight with a tape measurer in hand to get more of the layout complete.
open for suggestions.

funny you should post that... almost married a girl there.

how many members of the sketchucation forum have built what they designed with sketchup?
have a photo to show the end product vs the model? POST IT!
wanting to see some others works.
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
takes the cake as the best render i have seen! great work!
like the wood texture and reflection on the coffee table
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
sure, it's art, but it's going to cause lots of people problems if they visit the forum while at work.
PLEASE TAG IT NOT WORK SAFE!
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
there are a few changes that could/should be completed, but i'm calling this one finished where it's at.

and a few photos for review!
hope someone can use this! enjoy!

might want to add a few more details if there isnt a concern on size...
my thought... the blur is nice, but overkill in the distance. might want your focal point to be where the dart points have entered the board. they are a bit blurry now, so the most in focus portion is the number 9 and green portion of the board next to 9. just doesnt flow well and makes me want to look away after a few seconds.
i agree with the earlier comment of the board being 2d ish. give it some depth with maybe a metal ring. around 9/16" should be close.
hope it helps

more details added and still under 1mB

another addition to the garage.
had the photos within the online brochure to compare. It is not yet complete, but getting antsy to share.
total file size is under 600 kb.

ahhh... the joys of spending a summers day heat in a large field of fescue while brush hogging.
had the urge to mow some grass, but the push mower wasnt cutting it. so, built something with a bit more "umph"
file posted on the 3dwarehouse
didnt go overboard on detail with nuts and bolts, but overall, it should work for most people.

getting closer...
I cant seem to find the plugin that will smooth the polys.
open for suggestions!

a few weeks back i was expressing how difficult it was to build a motocross helmet with sketchup would be.
let me stress, MOTOCROSS helmet. I've created the base, but i know better can be created, for a helmet. The design is similar to a Bell helmet. I have not yet added the lip for goggles, vents, nor the complete interior padding.
I'm finding this to be the most difficult object to create in sketchup.
I believe it was hans-solo? that was mentioning this would be a good model for the sketchup challenge. Hope to see that happen!
I will have the complete version posted sometime next week.
chris<pixelmonkey>:D
was playing around with sketchup for a bit last night. uploaded the final version this morning.
