I bought a copy of VB6 Professional as I needed VB6 and it was no longer available elsewhere. It looked the genuine article, printing on CD, sleeves in case, code number.

My son bought an update for his satnav, this was clearly copied software, plain case, hand written CD label.

    • Is this Art?

Saw it on the news tonight. It's interesting even if it's not "art". I'd like to see a closeup of the mechanism.

Is it art? Not in my mind. If that's art then to old "Guinness" clock (1950's) was also art but to me it was an amusing entertainment.

    • RE: Laser Cutting Templates

Why not draw the shape you want in SketchUp and export as a DXF for laser cutting? Or am I missing something.

Odd that there appear to be no links to Wheby, even if it's just more information ❓

    • RE: Most used scripts.

I use the "Unfold" plugin by Jim Foltz. Helps me create flat pattern profiles from sheet metal shapes. πŸ˜„

      Oh, and I use DrawHelix13 (but I shouldn't plug my only script 😳 )

    • RE: Concorde aircraft

I remember riding my motorcycle from home to watch the first British prototype land at it's test airfield at the end of it's maiden flight from Filton (Bristol) where it was built.

I also worked with a guy who was on flight testing. He had a wealth of stories about being on Concorde flying around the world!

    • RE: Align a face to a plane ..

OK, here's the workflow to create unfolded sheetmetal parts -

      1. create first end of a transition
      2. create second end of transition
      3. use skin.rb to join the ends
      4. delete end faces and tweak surfaces as necessary
      5. use JF_unfold.rb to create a flat pattern
      6. align flat pattern to xy, xz or yz planes
      7. perspective off, select appropriate view, export DXF for profile cutting.

Will play around with the Align feature later.

    • Align a face to a plane ..

I'm a bit out of touch with SketchUp and Ruby these days.

Is there a script around that will allow me to select a face then align it either to the xy, xz or yz planes?

      TIA

    • Something mechanical

This is just to show that some people use SketchUp for mechanical work, not just buildings πŸ˜‰

    • RE: [Plugin] Skin.rb

May I say how much I appreciate the skin.rb script. πŸ˜„

I can use SketchUp to create both ends of sheet metal 'square to rounds', 'skin.rb' will join the points, 'jf_unfoldtool.rb' will unfold a flat pattern which I can export full size as a DXF profile and feed to a laser profiler.
