Just a thought, any SketchUppers with a bit of time on their hands care to SketchUp a new design for the end of the pier following the fire? It's a bit sad as it is.

RE: New drug for prostrate cancer looks good
Nice to see a treatment for a male cancer at last.
(Not that I'm sexist or anything.)

RE: Capital punishment
I remember Ruth Ellis being hanged.
I remember Sydney Silverman's bill being passed in the UK.
I remember it replaced hanging with life imprisonment for murder.
I remember that life imprisonment was be be just that LIFE.But now, seven years then release?
Life should mean life, die in prison, no further contact with the outside world. -
RE: Wimbledon final
Watched it on and off. Great bit of tennis. To start with I thought it was going to be over in 3 sets, but it went to the full 5.
Lewis was on form this afternoon in the wet wasn't he. Will he take over from Schumacher as the 'rainmeister'?

RE: Payment terms question
Buyers and accountants at some companies regard it almost as a matter of honour NOT to pay the agreed amount. If you have to deal with one of those, plan on NOT getting the final 10%. If you do get it then it's more money for beer.
Talking to one supplier I deal with he told me he knows he'll be kept hanging around for money "so I price the jobs accordingly!"

RE: Java Applet to View 3D Models
Thanks Alan, I'd missed that. Probably do all I need for this exercise.

Java Applet to View 3D Models
I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to view some 3D models on a web page.
Anyone know of a Java Applet to do this, maybe in VRML (exported from SU), or other?
I really don't want people to have to download and install special viewers (many are prevented from doing this by company restrictions). -
RE: Question: you can change the comma?
With the UK drawing standard now being BS8888, the decimal separator is specified as a ','.
Does anyone in the UK follow that? Since I was introduced to the decimal point at school in the early '60's for maths (and the forgotten subject "engineering drawing") that's what it always been. The change to a comma in BS8888 is irrelevant as far as I can see because in my area of mechanical engineering NO ONE uses it.[RANT]
But in the UK we only have ourselves to blame. If our industry got more involved with BSI groups, and put forward FORCEFULLY what we in the UK want/need rather than leave it to BSI staff, university 'ivory tower' types, and civil servants, we might end up with better standards rather than 'stuff' imported from Europe. But it's all down to competent staff being allowed time to attend meetings which unfortunately doesn't happen these days.

Rhino, a shortened form of rhinoceros.
An animal well know for being the richest in the world! -
RE: The English Language!
English is a cobbled together language as the English are more that happy to adopt words from other languages if it suits (unlike the French).
Then of course there's
English English,
American English
Australian English
South African English
Etc, etc ... -

RE: Verified by Visa Rant
User Rant
As someone who orders stuff online I get seriously pied off with "Verified by Visa". Only a few of my transactions get "Verified by Visa" so I keep forgetting what it's all about when I come up against. Then the experience is so bad I end up in a real buers muddle so I find another site without "Verified by Visa" or order over the phone!
