My WW2 Vet Father does not like the Japs, for example. And for good reason. My opinion of Islamists is also far from uninformed or uneducated. I think you're all wrapped in political correctness. It's OK to despise, really.

Ah, so now your true colors are revealed. While you veil yourself in American self righteousness and pretend to embrace the notion of bringing light and freedom to a world in darkness you actually resent anyone who does not fit within the American White profile. You degrade people by calling them names like 'Japs' and obviously condone a world ruled by god-fearing white folks. I actually thought you were a rather intelligent man, however, I now see you for what you are... a white bigot.

Christian religions have been perpetrating atrocities for centuries and to imply that American hands are unsoiled is ludicrous. Christian persecution has been rampant throughout history and the United States is soiled in blood. You guys love to shroud yourselves in the flag and blather on about the founding fathers and the constitution while conveniently skirting the systematic eradication of first nations peoples and their culture by Jesuits and other religious orders. Priests abusing the very children they were supposed to be 'saving'. And while we're at it how about those wonderful Christian supremist folks from the south who enslaved and murdered blacks and continue to embrace their racist hatred to this day. And here we are today, a 'born again' American president who under the influence of religious extremists like Karl Rove have embarked on a holy war to spite the infidels.

Paris, tell us more about yourself. Your bio is a little light. I have to say I agree with much of what you said except that the US has had it's day. We are the "light on the hill". Our most prized export is freedom. People risk their lives to come here. We do more good than harm.

You don't see any relevance to "Barak Hussein Obama" being a presidential candidate in these times?

You tout that America is the 'light on the hill' and a country that is built on freedom and equality for all and at the same time you condemn an 'American' black man who has elevated himself to where he is running for the highest position in the land because he was 'given' a name that evokes fear. A fear I might add that is self imposed. You can't have it both ways. It's time for America to wake up and realize that if they want to regain their status as a 'respected' world leader then they need to overcome their own arrogance and hypocrisy. Right now all I see is a country in peril, that is dominated by right wing extremist paranoia. Bush has opened the Pandora's box and unlike when you guys were humiliated by Vietnam these guys strap bombs to themselves and fly planes into buildings. As far as 'exporting freedom' goes, well, there is a big difference between 'liberation' and 'domination'.

    • RE: McCain vs Obama 1st debate

The USA has had it's day and I challenge anyone to name a single country that looks to it for leadership.
They are on the brink of financial collapse and almost 60% of it's pre-bailout debt is controlled by China and other so-called emerging nations who also dominate manufacturing. Cities like New York are being sold off to foreign investors, many ironically from the middle east. They are obsessed with the threat of terrorist attack while being bled dry by a self imposed religious/oil war they cannot win and Afganistan/Pakistan is escalating. The war-machine that has propped up the economy for decades is rife with corruption and a dying industry. The auto industry American Big 3 are on the verge of collapse as are other industries such as steel. The housing sector has been decimated. They have alienated their free trade allies and oil/resource rich countries such as Venezuela and Bolivia are escalating anti-American sentiment while aligning themselves with Russia, who are rebuilding at an alarming rate and have recently upped their military presence in the Carribean to beyond Cold War status.
We are now a few short weeks from the presidential election and some people still can't get past the fact that Obama has a middle name that is associated with the Middle East or that God will be displeased if they vote for him.
Thankfully if John McCain is elected and kicks the bucket, Sarah Palin will be there to save the day because she can see Russia from her bedroom window.

I love it when some crazy runs into a school and blows away fifty kids, or a school bus gets hit by a train and the parents of the surviving kid thank 'god' for saving 'their little Billy or Betty'. It's also nice that God takes the time to help athletes win basketball games. God hates losers and infidels and loves me.

I watched the debate as well, and I thought both candidates made some strong points. I give an edge to Obama, just because I felt he gave more concise answers and descriptions of what he has planned and what his agenda will consist of, and McCain resorted to mostly referencing his past experience rather than what he intends to do, and blatant flag waving. As I found out this morning when I discussed the debate with a friend who loves McCain and hates Obama, based on your politics really dictates who you thought won the debate. I don't think anyone clearly "won", and most of the experts agreed it was mostly a draw.

Actually, most of the polls and reviews have declared Obama the winner.

      Hi kwist,

Your example of choosing between Pepsi and Coke is spot on.

Like the main political parties, you are being offered something that seems all sweetness and light. You then discover that you are ingesting a sugary chemical drink that will rot your teeth and if enough is consumed will rot your insides!

Most of the world does not want a one-world coca-cola mono culture.
      Neither do I.

      Regards
      Mr S

It's more like comparing Coke and milk. (Chocolate milk in this case - please don't imply a racist slur) One rots your teeth and the other re-builds strong bones.

The fact is that Kerkythe is being developed by one person who (until recently) didn't have any experience on Mac. Also, this is the first release for Mac and obviously the "Mac user base" is quite small (true that Podium has only released its first Mac version, too).

All the help files for Kerky are being developed by enthusiastic users who devote their time to sharing their experiences. I find these help files quite intuitive and helpful and also the people on the KT forums (and yes, the Podium forum is alo a great place).

I realize my post was a bit provocative and certainly don't want to start a pissing contest. The Mac workflow mindset is quite diferent. PC guys drive ten miles to save a penny on a gallon/litre of gas, Mac guys fillup across the street. πŸ‘Š

Anywho, finally got an answer to my dilema...you got it...from a PC guy!

Got it! For Mac users who run into this sitch, the way to open the standalone or SU plugin KT-GUI is go to the KT Applications folder and click on the 'word' kerkythea. Now all I need to do is link it to an icon and put it in the 'dock'.

The SU2KT plug-in was originally made for Windows...

So - when prompted to locate the executable, please disregard this message and just open the exported XML-file directly in KT using the File > Open... πŸ˜‰

      Thanks for the reply...
My problem is that I cannot access the stand alone KT GUI. The folder is in my HD Apps, but there doesn't seem to be a way to open KT.
Am I just having a 'brain fart' or being obtuse? I wonder if there is a prob with my X11?

BTW, apologies for my little rant... I know you guys are doing an awesome job!

KT for Mac have absolutely NO problems... ❗
Some users might have had difficulties understanding how to set things up right...

Apologies for the rant... just frustrated right now.

    • PLEASE Locate Kerkythea Executable?

      Hey,
Can anyone shed some 'light' on this...please!
      I am running Mac 10.5.5
      I have X11 installed.
I have downloaded KT and SU2KT.
Sketchup shows KT as a plugin and when I export my drawing it converts to an .xml file.
PROBLEM: When I try to open the model in KT, I am asked to:PLEASE Locate Kerkythea Executable?

      Suggestions?

BTW, I have read the Tuts and reloaded everything and still can't find an answer.

      Thx,

Interesting point of view. I have never had any problem with Kerkythea. Neither have thousands of other users.

I was referring to their lack of cohesive instructions for Mac users, a fact that the developers have acknowledged. Podium/Mac is seemless in this respect and their forums are amazing with clear and concise advice. I'm sure KT is a fantastic prog., I'm just having difficulty with a few issues and am frustrated that I can't find a Mac user who can help.

Does anyone know of how you put this on the Mac? I went to download but the instructions... I don't know what they're talking about. You need to run in some special mode, "X" this and "X" that.

      DITTO HERE...
I'm running 10.5.4 and XII is installed, however, when I download Kerkythea there is no icon to actually open the app.

i use my macbook pro with a 20" apple screen and it works perfectly: palettes on the small one, model or image on the big one.

but i would not know how to hook two external screens to a macbook.

I'm using a mac wireless keyboard, bluetooth mouse and a 22" external monitor. I want to use the MacBook Pro as a cpu only, close the lid and tuck it away.

On another note: If you find the MacBook gets hot, I posted a fantastic app on freeware that lets you amp-up the fan speed and cool it down.

      Thx remus.
This is the one I also found and it does everything I need. My issue is with the VGA output to DVI and what appears to be adjustment issues, ie. text is soft. I would need to convert DVI output to VGA then back to DVI or use the VGA input on the monitors.
Hopefully there's someone here who has used this unit.
