Thanks guys. I've tried importing two different images as textures and they look perfect when zoomed in, but as soon as you zoom out, they lose their effect completely and almost look like a flat single colour.

RE: Importing Colors
Great, thanks... do you know if it is possible to buy or import additional textures, apart from creating your own?

Importing Colors
Hi, is it possible to buy and import additional colors / textures in SketchUp.
I am looking for more realistic grass textures, and i feel the grass textures that come with Sketchup are very pixelated.

RE: Updating Scenes (update VS save as a new)
Ok, so would updating the existing style not seem like the best option.
I still find this confusing
I guess i should do more research on styles

RE: Updating Scenes (update VS save as a new)
Thanks all. I still find it confusing as to why it asks these questions especially when i am not changing anything to do with Styles. I am purely only changing the Camera Location, however if i change my camera locations and then click 'Do Nothing' all of my camera locations are not saved when i open the file back up.
So maybe Camera Locations are attached to Styles?

Updating Scenes (update VS save as a new)
Hi,
My model has 20 scenes. I want to go back and change the camera position on each scene, however when i update the scene, i'm given the following options:
A - Update Selected Style
B - Save As A New Style
C - Do NothingI don't really understand what this means.
Q1 - if i choose A, what exactly am i updating in my scene?
Q2 - if i choose B, what are the downfalls of save as a new style?
Q3 - why is the option to 'Do Nothing' here, is this the same as clicking a cancel button?
Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: Strange Colours
Thanks guys. I actually re-drew everything. Sometimes it's just quicker to do so

RE: Strange Colours

Strange Colours
Hi, i've used rectangle boxes to illustrate various zones in my model.
I've used the paint bucket tool to colour in each box, and i've used the same two colours (transparent red and green) on each zone, HOWEVER, as you can see below the colours (reds and greens don't match) don't look the same.
I've coloured all sides of the rectangles (top, sides, bottom) and i've even saved each colour to a pallett so that i can be sure i am using the same red and green.
Can anyone suggest what could be wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

Struggling With Animation / Section Plane
Hi, i have a created a model of carpark (extension) that is made up of about 100 different groups and components that i need to animate (Section Plane) into the model to show a construction sequence. The car park already has 3 levels built and i am trying to show the animation for the extension of another level on top.
I am not sure what the best method is to use when section planing items, and as you can see in the video iāve made below, itās starting to go wrong very early
I plan on spending the full weekend on learning how to do this correctly, so i would greatly appreciate any help that you could give to me on this, thank you.
MY APPROACH / PLAN
01 - iāve gone and hidden all of the components / groups that makes up the car park level / extension.
02 - when i need to animate (bring in) a component / group:
02.1 - i unhide the component / group in the current scene
02.2 - add two section planes at either end of the component / group
02.3 - set the invisible plane as Active Cut
02.4 - hide the group and update the current scene
02.5 - unhide the group and set the visible plane as Active Cut and update sceneQUESTIONS
01 - should i use a different approach compared to my approach aboveā¦ someone mentioned on youtube that you should add two section planes to all of your components first, and set the invisible plane on all components as the Active Cut before starting the scene animationā¦ and then just make the visible plane the active cut in each new scene
02 - as seen in the video belowā¦ why are some of my components coming in on scenes that they shouldnāt be in (and coming in backwards)
03 - can you go back and add something into a group that you have already section planed inā¦ if so, do i need to update all scenes when iāve added something to a group that has already been section planed
04 - how do you turn off section panes from your animation / scenes so that they donāt show in your animation when it is playingā¦ iāve tried turning them off view menu and updating each sceneā¦ but they eventually come back againThanks in advance for your help.

Section Pane Actions
Hi, i have two small questions in relations to Section Panes:
01 - is it possible to delete all sections panes from your model, or within a certain group... without having to click into each one and manually delete them?
02 - is it possible to only show section panes for the group that you are active in, and not all sections panes in your entire model... i have a lot of sections panes in my model and it is becoming difficult to locate each one.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Sequence Animation
Hi, could anyone recommend a good plugin for sequence animation?
-
RE: Animation Options
Thank you, i've tried your suggestion.
I see a lot of different plugins etc for animation and not much other information that is really of any use.
Can anyone suggest researching any other methods, other than the Section Plane, or is that really the only way to carry out sequence animation, without using a plugin... thanks in advance for your help.

Animation Options
Hi, i plan on spending the weekend learning various different animation methods in SU.
I was wondering if someone could point out what options there are, when it comes to animation.
So far i have seen two different types of animation:
01 - Walkthrough - using various scenes to showcase you model
02 - Sequencing - use the section plane to show your model coming together in different phases
I'd like to explore what options there are for sequence animation. I'd like to be able to show / animate each part / phase of my model from the start, right through to the end.
Is the section plane method, the only way to demonstrate the construction sequence of your model?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Creating A Carpark Ramp
Hi,
I need to create a carpark ramp.
The ramp is basically like a semi circle that comes out of the ground floor and then swings up and around 180 degrees to the next floor, which is supported by pillars.
Once you get to the next floor, you can drive out again onto theramp and then swing up and around 180 degrees again to the next floor.
There is an identical ramp at the other side of the building, which allows you to go back down the floors.
What would be the best way to create this ramp, thanks in advance for your help.

Creating A Looooong Wall & Railing
Hi,
I need to draw a specific railing and wall along the outside of a huge building.
What is the best way to draw the railing and wall that runs along side the building below:
The photo above only shows about 1/4 of one side of the building, so as you can see, i have a lot to draw here.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Pulling A Bar Between 2 Objects
Hi, is it possible to pull a circle pole / bar between two pillars (or should i say what is the best way
I have not problem in pulling the circle poll out of object A, but how do i get it to snap to the far object B surface, baring in mind that there is no other object inline with object B, so i can't use another object face for reference.
I've attached a quick image of what i mean.
Thanks in advance for your help.
