Noob's wip
Hello Everyone,
Hope you don't mind a noob posting. I would love to have some critique on this house. I got the plans from houseplans.com http://houseplans.com/plan_details.asp?id=353 so I could have something real to learn from. I have been using Sketchup for about 3 weeks and have watched as many tutorials as I could find. I am a complete amateur with architecture and 3D modeling. I think I have found my new love.
Do you think I should just do this for my own pleasure and stop showing you this crap?

RE: Aeolian Wind Harp
More information found on the web.
Sometimes called Harmonic Harps, wind harps originated in ancient Greece (circa 6 BC) and flourished throughout the Renaissance era. Aeolian Harps are rare, beautiful instruments designed to be played by the wind; free of the touch of human hands. Harmonic wind harps transpose the spirit of the wind into spontaneous, multi-layered music in time to nature's rhythms. Their vibrant voices sing pure harmonic tones that range from deep, pulsing bases to soaring sopranos.
Here's a link to a page that has a sample of the sound of a truly grand wind harp. http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om01000.html

Aeolian Wind Harp
An Aeolian Wind Harp is a box with an opening across which are stretched a number of strings of equal length that are tuned in unison and sounded by the wind. Also called aeo'lian lyre', wind harp.
I ran across this instrument on the web and liked it enough to want to copy the design of one.

I wish the city would hurry up and fix my front yard after digging it up for their water leak.
Granted. The city has decided the best way to fix the water leak is to install a catch basin in your back yard, right where your kids swingset is now.
I wish I had a job I could love with customers who love me and everything I do.

RE: Don't Smoke !
I'm a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker. I have tried several methods to quit. Cold Turkey, Cutting Down, Nicotine Patch, Nicotine Lozenge, Welbutrin, Bantrol, and probable others I can't think of right now.
The patch was the closest I've come to success and I'll likely start using it again. The only problem is, it gave me very weird dreams. The kind where you wake up really freaked out. I had to stop using them because the dreams were making me exhausted during the day. I could hardly stay awake to work. Next time, I think I'll take it off a couple of hours before bed. Maybe that way I can sleep and I'll just have to use willpower not to light up in the morning.

RE: Starry starry night with tilt up.
Roger, I'm only giving my opinion as a viewer of the image, not as a professional designer.
This image bothers me because of the blurriness. It makes my eyes want to strain to bring it all into focus and I wouldn't be able to look at it for long. I would also lose that tree in the front, it cuts the building into thirds and doesn't feel right alongside the other, more tropical trees. Maybe some lower plantings that fit in with the region would be nice.
What I do like are the colors and the point of view.

I'm a member of YouTube. I sent a message to his e-mail. If I hear from him, I'll let you all know.

RE: Disapearing geometry
It does it to me too. I'm not an expert but I figure the refresh rate of my video card just can't keep up with my orbiting. Everything reappears when I stop orbiting.

RE: Anyone Up For Some Friendly Competition?
Thanks for the reminder but I tried to do gingerbread and got very frustrated. It wasn't the gingerbread, it was the icing.

RE: Su vue
oooh...nice
The first one is very moody and could be romantic or scary, depending on your frame of mind. I really like the last one, I would buy that!

RE: Not a Newbie but Its a new problem I've never come across be
Tobobo,
I'm very much a newbie myself so I don't know if this will help you or not but I played with your file.
I deleted everything on levels 0 and 1, then redrew the front portion of the seat.
I don't know how to paste a link to a file, so here's a jpeg. The file is in the Newbie folder on the sketchucation page.
Is this what you're looking for?Nomi
