nice work earth. i actually prefer the raw output. i could see more details. somewhat some of those detailas were gone during the exposure correction. i like the suttle displacment...

so.... a car driving on the road is a car, but in a gallery it becomes art?
No, think it through Pete. It's about the idea behind what the artist wants to express.
I can't imagine putting a car in a showroom would make it art just like that...but when it is modified etc...to express a powerful thought, concept or emotion than yes, off course.Hey Pete, I would have expected you would be the first one to be thinking out of the box . A bit disappointing?
, as I consider you to be an artist yourself.
...As a personal note, I really like the concept of art to be relieved from any 'estethic' rules.
Estethics gets in the way of creation of ideas. Off course, art can still be 'beautiful', but it doesn't have to.
Take Stinkies work for example. I don't find his photos 'beautiful', but I admire the way he can transfer an emotion like 'emptyness' with it...excellent point kwist..
hey we know our buddy solo.. he knows it. he is just trying to create questions to build up controversy. just like a teacher teaching theory of knowledge where everythign can be correct. so he is a really fitting to create such wonderful corner thread like this that sparks controversy.

RE: New Twilight render...

Great images nomeradona! Very impressive how hard the scene got improved

actually the scene that has been shared has already some of the great things there. i guess the scene was already doen in vray. what i did was ajust to re arranged based on my ecclectic taste. as for my initial render, i tested the lighting and wanted to create mood and drama. then experimented with another lighting mood ( the morning mood).
one of the best thing in challenge like this is you can compare notes. you can learn from each other. eg. camera set up, moods, even design issue. I like the way rcossoli's treatment on the stair. I gave it a try and it seems better with a small lkooking room like this. hopefuly we have more challenge like this. where we can see some creative lighting and set ups using all the same rooms.

RE: Render This: Interior
oops sorry for the other render, some uncalcualted area below the fan due to saving ir map calculation. then i moved the fan up. anyway this is perhaps my last one. taking rcossoli's removing of stair elements.

LightUp - 3 minute render time.
I've added a couple of IES downlights too.

3 minute render
let us give up all the other engines...
adam the lighting is really good. i just really want to have lightup to add materialup. so as to have some option to add, bump, displacement. nevertheless three minutes is very respectable.@rcossoli, yur treatment in removing those stair part is really cool i love that... i will see tonight to remove also those thing in my version...

RE: Avatar works
thanks gai thanks solo..
my steps as follows:
using wacom is easier but with mouse its also ok.
- using liquify bloat tool to make the eyes a bit bigger.
- skin.. jsut use hue, saturation and move them to have the desire blue skin.
- skin variation.. paint on new layer and use overlay blending mode and adjust opacity.
- pattern on the skin. choose new layer and use lasso tool and just inscribe the desired shapes. then fill it with a much darker color, use overlay and adjust opacity.
- white acnes. just use soft brush small diameter and start painting (white) on the new layer again and again adjust opacity.
- eyes. select the black part with minimal feathering, then adjust hue saturation/lightness brightness. paint black and paint the specular highlight.
- ears i just copied the orignal ones and pasted and use masking.
- hair.. same as the ears but some hair i used other peoples braid hair too. byu googling of course.
- background.. use avatar stuff also and applied some bluring.
once done.. i combined the images and then i use liquify again. forward warp tool to push nose, eyes to desired effect. also use the burn and dodge tool..

you might want to use shift lens of the vray physical camera.
Hi Shadow king

I actually used Freeagents visopt, which dosnt use physical camera.
Were you refering to the actual perspective?
therefore you cant use the shift lens then.. only the vray physical camera has shift lens.. yes im refering to the 3point perspective effect. which has a paralax effect with that camera viewpoint.
