If those pictures are not tempered with you could use in eg. second one and go with Matched Photo to get base and overall shape and then use Vertex tools and SubD to get smooth transitions.

RE: Living room
Actually I would say that TV is quite real for my experience in that scene.
In terms of lightning, if you take a photo in dimmed space you would take ISO up and get some overexposed TV screen and light on the ceiling. -
RE: On a roll - modern traditional formal living room
Nice composition. Waiting for render.

RE: SubD examples and models
WRUUUMMMMM..... VUHUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Stay safe, looking forward to rendering. -
RE: Livingroom in the attic
I will agree with Bryan, cosy and warm, would be a nice home.

RE: Staying home on a foggy Paris day
Great looking render.
I have just one question, why not opening curtains all the way and letting all warm light in.
I kinda miss that warm light, here home we have quite sunshine but it is soooooo cold. -
RE: Change of pace - bedroom scene
Looks like movie setup, waiting for a render.
For light, maybe something from their assortment:

RE: Chairs by Architects personal challenge
So this one is Joseph Maria Olbrich Armchair from 1899, there are some things that I would like to be better but since it took me soo long to post chair no.2. I will call this finished and move to chair no.3. Henry van de Velde Blomenwerf Chair 1895.
Model is made with SU_2019, UV's with Ultimate Unwrap 3D, texture and renders (screengrabs) in Quixel Mixer 2020.

RE: Chairs by Architects personal challenge
Well, it took me a quite long time to get to this one.
Not quite satisfied with all details but will move on with this chair.
Done with SU and now off to UVΒ΄s to get prepped for texturing and rendering.

RE: BD-SF with SU
I did expect the next page and some text balloons ... great job, and I have to ask is this a teaser for your comic book?

RE: Upholstered furniture
Your 3d modeling of furniture made me try myself modeling with SubD and model chairs, got some obsession with them.
Definitively best-upholstered furniture modeling here. -
RE: Affordable laptop for sketchup
@peterf said:
I am a furniture maker using sketchup for fairly simple models such as modelling kitchens etc and the laptop I use it on is dying! I've been hunting around for ages trying to find an affordable replacement that will meet the required specs, but keep reading conflicting advice. My budget is around Β£400. I can easily find laptops with 8gb ram and fast processors, but the graphics requirements are leaving me stumped. Everyone says intel hd graphics are useless and some people say the AMD ryzen 5 integrated graphics are better and some say they're worse. Basically it seems like I can't afford a computer with a dedicated graphics card, so for the sort of modelling I do, what would you guys recommend? These are my top 2 options currently...

Well, with LENOVO V155-15API, you do get minimum requirements but it is minimum so if your models will be simple with not too many polygons then I guess you will be fine. But again, this is a minimum.

Beautifull work in modelling Trabant.

The texture is not an image. It is a mesh a few millimeters above the model.
Model is awesome. Maybe for texturing you could try and learn how to unwrap model in and then one of these two for texturing:

RE: Texturing Geodesic faces
@claviateur said:
Hello,
I use Sketchup Make 2017 and I am trying to make the Geodesic shape polygon faces get a repetitive motif just like in the architectural structure in the photo below.
I tried Fredo Tools (ThruPaint) with many texture options but could not get it to work.
Is there a plugin that can do this mapping repetition?
Also, I am wondering how the texture should look like (with the bright color on the edge) to make it work on the 3D shape.
Thanks
You could try:
- Make components out of the same parts and reassemble geode, then texture one component.
- Use Wrapr plugin (there is a trial) and unwrap geode, export UV as a picture, open it in Photoshop like app and make a texture for geode.
- Export geode as obj or fbx, open it in Blender, unwrap there and use either Blender to texture geode or go the same as second suggestion.
