Hey Fellas! i saw the post from Artsymedia and liked the idea of a brain in a jar.
So i gave it a try SketchUp7 + Vray |.0 Cheers!

When V-ray calculates the shadows depending on the distance
shadows become softer because of the shadow bias, so those
trees far away cast very soft shadows when rendered.
I hope my answer is what your are looking for, if its not
please tell me so i can solve your doubt .
