You can install and use differing versions of SketchUp on a computer. You can not install both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of SketchUp 2015. So if you are using a version earlier than 2015, you can install 2015 64-bit without affecting your current version.

My desktop is 64 bit but laptop 32 both Windows 7. I use desktop mostly and laptop to show customers at the job. Can I install 64 at home and 32 on laptop without any sharing issues? Any benefits? Is that even an option when I purchase Pro for my 2 computers?

    • Jagged lines on new Win 7 computer

I just built a new Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit i5-3570k computer and the lines and axes on my models are jagged. My XP computer had straight lines. I'm using the same monitors and graphics card moved to the new machine. Same result with on board Intel graphics. Any suggestions?

I am not sure if you would need to download Easy Transfer for an XP machine, to migrate the profile to Win7.

I guess you do. Here are the links at Microsoft download:

Windows Easy Transfer for transferring from Windows XP (32 bit) to Windows 7

Windows Easy Transfer for transferring from Windows XP (64 bit) to Windows 7

      💭

      Hi Dan,
I don't want to transfer everything on the computer. Would this just let me do Sketchup?
I built my own computer to avoid bloatware and get a new clean install of windows 7.
      Thanks,
      Mike

You could export the registry for SketchUp but I think you'd be better off making a screen grab from the old machine showing where your toolbars are and then setting up the new machine to match.

If you've created your own custom template, don't forget to grab it and set it as your default on the new one.

      Hi Dave,
I did remember the template and was just trying to save time with the toolbars. I thought there might be a preferences file like with Firefox and some others I moved over. Thanks.

    • Moving settings to new computer

I just put a new computer together and would like to transfer my preferences and toolbar setups to the new installation. Is this possible?
I did copy the Plugins directory over and that worked ok. The toolbar setups are the most important. Thanks.

    • RE: Widen mantel leg & moldings

      Dave,
I did make the fern table about 2½ months ago and just watched it again. It was very helpful, thanks. I did watch the modifying video before I wrote in to the forum.

When I made the moldings I drew lines out 3/4, over 1-1/2, out 1, over 4, in 1, over 47 ...etc. Then put profile on the end selected the lines and used follow me, then made group or component and moved into place. Is there a better way? I've had trouble using follow me directly on the model sometimes.

    • RE: Widen mantel leg & moldings

      Dave R,
Is there a better way that I should have created the model?
It was very tedious. I'm still learning.
      Which faces were reversed?
I didn't know I could turn off the endpoints but found it now.
      Thanks for your help,
      Mike

      Gai,
Here is the file. I need to widen symmetrically so leg is flush with marble hearth. Also shorten baseboard and base cap molding. Hope there is an easy fix or plugin. Thanks.

    • Widen mantel leg & moldings

I've drawn a mantel and grouped all the pieces and moldings separately. Now I want to widen the legs say 1.25" but not the breast pieces so scale doesn't seem to be the answer. There are at least 6 moldings, plus the legs, pilasters, plinths etc. How can I just select the center of the leg and widen it filling in all the pieces?
