Select Only is part of TT Selection Toys. Do you have it installed in SketchUp 2018? If it's installed, is it enabled?

Thank You Dave

No, I do not have, and never have had TT selection Toys on any of my machines.
However: Your response did lead me to the resolution.

I do have TT solid inspector, and solid inspector II, and of course they are accompanied by TT lib2. Those are the only TT plugins I use.
After seeing your response I went to Extension Manager and found that a # of my plugins were showing as "Blocked" ?.. including TT Solid Inspector, I have never seen "Blocked" before in extension manager. The common denominator of all the blocked plugins is that they were all are either unsigned, and or have out dated signatures.

So Yes, I did something Stupid that caused it.
I had recently, and do not even remember why I did it, changed the loading policy in Extension Manager settings to "Identified Extensions Only" where previously I had it set to unrestricted, that is where I inadvertently "Blocked" some plugins.
As soon as I went back to "Unrestricted" I was able to re-enable the previously blocked scripts, and the "Select Only" option is back (along with scripts that I had not even noticed were disabled yet!)

Problem Solved, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction..

• Select Only Dissapeared in SU2018

Hey all, I have 2 pro licenses, and have SU running on 3 different machines, 1 at my home office and 2 at my business.
Just recently on my home machine, in SU2018 only, the context click drop down menu option for "Select Only" has disappeared. It is not there anymore? where did it go?
Has any one else experienced this? did I do something inadvertently to make it go away ?
I still have SU2017 loaded on the home machine and "Select Only" is there and works fine, same thing on my business office machines, it works fine there too on all versions? Just my home machine, on 2018 has lost the option of "Select Only" it has just disappeared from the context click drop down menu?

Any advice ?

This has already been covered. They are working on an updated driver package. Check the manufacturer's site.

Thanks Dave, That is what I suspected, (I knew you would have that answer)
I missed where it has already been covered, and I cannot find any reference to it at their web site.

Hey Guys, I am trying out 2015 here. I have not yet loaded any of my plug-ins yet, because I notice right away that my 3DConnexion Space Mouse Pro, will not yet work in SU 2015. (never realized how dependent I had become on it, until I tried to work without it!)
I reloaded the most recent drivers, but no improvement for 2015, still works fine in 2014!.
I would guess that 3DXware needs a driver update to be compatible with 2015 and the 64 bit application?
I did send a note / tech request this morning to 3DConnexion regarding this.
Has anyone had success with a 3DConnexion device in SU2015 ?

This one doesn't seem to be working fully in 2014. It will recurve edges but it won't select curve and recurve.
It is one of my favourite tools, I had a shortcut key for it so you could click on any segment and with one keystroke it would find the path and weld it. I know other ways of doing it but they all require a couple of tools. I'm happy if someone can point me to one that works the same way.
Diggsey doesn't seem to have been around for a while, I hope he does pop up.

Ditto... I get the same thing here, in 2014 the plug in will not select as it did in SU8 and 2013, Hopefully Diggsey will pop up, and make it fully compatible with 2014.
I will be hating life working without the full functionality of recurve in SU2014

• RE: Buying a new computer?

I am finally ready to pull the trigger on my own new computer system, Today is the day.
I started researching what I would want, and what I believed I would need, in my next system back in January.
Then I found this thread that Solo started, and the configuration matched almost exactly with what I had decided I needed myself.
I sent an email this morning to Adam at JNCS with a couple of questions, and some minor changes that I wanted to consider before placing my actual order.
Adam called me back directly within 15 minutes of sending my enquiry via email.
I am looking at 2 main changes to the 256-680 system.
(1) I just gotta have the Titan 6g graphics card
(2) and I am considering a case change to a Cooler Master HAF XB.
And it just so happens that JNCS has 1 of those cases on hand at this time to test out.
It is lunch time for Adam there in NY, so after lunch he is going to find out if all the guts will fit in that case without any issues, and then get back to me. The case is not a deal breaker though, just an a desire that will better suit my work desk area.
So far I am very impressed with JNCS's service, reviews, knowledge, and eager flexibility to try something a little bit different.
The debit card is sitting on my desk, just waiting for the big moment.
Thanks go to Pete Stoppel for arranging a great base price for us with JNCS.
I am pleased to have learned about JNCS through this thread.

Corey

UPDATE: Done !, I placed my order a couple of hours ago. As promised, Adam got back to me shortly after his lunch break, and reported that everything will fit quite well into my preferred case.
The only potential issue appears to be the availability of the Titan graphics card, they are still fairly scarce, but they are getting one shipped from California, (unless someone else claimed it first?)
So now I get to sit back for a couple of weeks, and Drool with anticipation waiting for this Awesome new machine. And keep my fingers crossed, and pray! that my current machine gets me through the next couple of weeks, it gave me a couple of black screen scares, followed by auto re-start on Friday...

What nonsense, open the file and save as SU8.

You can save as back to version 3 if you want.

Thanks for the lesson on back saving guys, you all are WAY smarter than I am, (that is why I hang out here, to sponge up as much of your knowledge as possible) in 7 years of SU, I have never had a need to back save an SU file until now, so I had never had to explore that option. I will give it a try.

Any way, I did not have to rebuild my model in SU 8., While trying to figure out what was causing lumion to crash when it opened the first collada file I had ever saved from an SU 2013 model, I discovered that 1 specific component group within my model, one that I had used in many of my previous SU 8 models, (created in SU 7 or 😎 is somehow to blame for the crash ?... When I eliminated that particular component group, saved a new collada file without that component, PRESTO ! the collada file opens in Lumion, and I am back in business....

Now I have to figure out? is there something specifically wrong with that particular component?, or am I going to have problems with other saved components that were created in earlier SU versions? and that I am accustomed to using over and over again to save time...

My initial "Panic" is gone, Forward we go!

To address numerobis The possibility to save as .skp8 has been already addressed... but my question would be, how can you update to a new version a few days after release when you are working on such an important project...?!? i don't get it! unbelievable

I agree with Numerobis, perhaps upgrading only a few days after release was a foolhardy decision, I was asking myself that same question a few hours ago?... But the reality is, the specific project I was working on, was no more important than the last one, or the next one. I have been turning out 3-4 similar projects per week, for the better part of last 2 years. My model renditions are what makes my client stand out from the competition, in a highly competitive field. Whether I take the plunge to upgrade now, just a few days after release, or wait a few weeks, would make little difference, there will be an equally important project on the line then!... and the learning curve will likely be the same now, or later. I would rather just bite the bullet jump in, and get over the growing pains sooner than later... The other option would be not to upgrade at all, just because I am busy, and never know what I was missing? Regardless of when I upgrade, there will always be an important project on the line.

Thanks

• RE: SketchUp 2013 Gripes & Bitchin' ONLY ;)

I upgraded to SU 2013 yesterday, and at least for the moment, I am going to call it a Huge MISTAKE !. (sure wish I had visited this thread before upgrading) I Just completed my first model with SU 2013, (probably have 12 - 14 hours time invested in it) I exported a .dae colada file, as I normally did in SU 8, so I can render the model in Lumion 3, only to find out that a collada file exported from SU 2013 causes lumion to immediately crash! WTF Trimble? This is not just frustrating, it is infuriating, and entirely unacceptable, when you have a PAYING client waiting for finished renditions, in order to secure the sale of a $60,000.00 project. And of course, I cannot load the SU 2013 model back into SU 8, I will have to completely rebuild the model in SU 8, so I can render in Lumion, and HOPE & PRAY that in the interim, a competitor does not secure the project first... I Could lose my MAIN source of income over this. (Ok I am through venting now, well actually not, I have a list in my head of all the other Gripes I have about the functionality of SU 2013, compared to SU 8, but the above described problem is my current BIGGIE, and may have just lost me thousands of $$$$$$ of future work)
Has anyone else had problems with collada files exported from SU 2013, that won't open, and or crashes of other applications?...
Any known work arounds ?
Am I doing something wrong ?
I use windows 7 pro 64 bit
SU 2013 pro (just ungraded from SU 8 pro)
and I render in Lumion 3.1.1
Never had a problem doing this with SU 8, or with collada files exported from it.
I even tried opening the collada file in the old lumion free version, and also got an immediate crash! I have been using lumion since the first week of initial release, and this is the first problem I have ever had with it, I can only attribute this problem to SU 2013!

• RE: [Plugin] Recurve

Diggsey,

I just wanted to say: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for this plug in. In the relatively short time since I have started using it, it has saved me countless hours of frustration !.. I would have to say, (at least for the way I model) that this is probably the most useful, and time/frustration, saving plugin, that I have used to date.

And a general shout out to all of you here that take the time to write, and share, such useful scripts!... You are way smarter than me, and you all deserve many accolades.. I don't know how I would get by without you all !

Thanks Again !
